  Gender Equality

The role played by woman at Tanta University is a pivotal one as woman assumed many high positions such as University presidency, deanship of faculties, and headship of departments in addition to a lot of administrative positions. The following reports shed light on positions occupied by women at some faculties of the University.

Furthermore, the University was keen on establishing the Unit of Combating Violence against Woman in cooperation with Faculty of Arts in the framework of implementing Egypt’s strategy 2030 and the directions given by President\ Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi, President of the Republic, regarding the necessity of empowering women in society and their positive participation in development process to fulfill the principle of equal opportunities.

The University encourages and supports women’s participation in all the fields and sectors of the University including the fields where women are not represented enough.

  Sustainable Communities

Tanta University contributes to community development interchangeably as it is keen on sending convoys whether guidance, medical or environmental ones to meet community needs. In the same context, the University welcomes external community to make use of the services offered at the University such as pitches, libraries, scientific museums, art exhibitions, informative symposiums and other activities.

Tanta University was pioneer in launching the project of School Olympics in partnership with Ministry of Education in order to support school pupils, to find out the talented and to offer them all required help to ensure gaining Olympic medals.

  Clean Water and Sanitation

- Tanta University abides by providing free clean water to students, academic staff and visitors through taps available in all University buildings.
Tanta University provides sanitation at all its departments, faculties and buildings to serve all persons affiliated to the University.
The University seeks to raise the efficiency of periodical maintenance services and to provide modern devices that rationalize water consumption.

  Reduced Inequalities

- Tanta University is committed to equality among all students, personnel and academic staff without any discrimination based on race, religion or gender.
- Tanta University abides by protecting all those who face discrimination in education or employment as it provides a system for complaining of discrimination through Legal Affairs Office at the University and takes strict measures to prevent any sorts of discrimination.
- Tanta University abides by achieving equality among all its workers including workers who take part in special tasks at the University and who are affiliated to outside bodies.

  Reasonable Consumption and Production

-  Tanta University seeks to disseminate awareness about collective responsibility of consumption patterns and sustainable production through ratifying the most reasonable consumption and production practices as well as holding symposiums, workshops and local and international conferences.
-  Tanta University is keen on contracting with commercial bodies that are committed to ethical criteria to supply food resources the University needs.
-  Tanta University dispose waste, including medical hazardous waste, with waste shredders the University owns. Then, the company that contracted with the University takes all waste to public landfills.
-  Tanta University encourages sustainable consumption of energy as it uses lamps with high efficiency and low energy consumption. .

  Sustainable Cities and Communities

-  At Tanta University, there are guidance and warning signs for drivers on the internal paths of campus.      
    -  Tanta University encourages mass transportation. In this regard, it offers means of mass transportation to reduce probability of air pollution and to serve a large number of persons who are affiliated to the University.
    -  Internal paths and all buildings of the University are surrounded by suitable green areas to reduce pollution and carbon emissions.

- Tanta University abides by applying the Universal Declaration of Human Rights as for preventing forced labor, modern slavery, human trafficking and child labor

Tanta University adopts The Smoke-Free Policy in Lecture halls and indoor areas in the interests of maintaining puplic health.

It is the process of development of land, cities, communities and businesses provided that it meets needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs. The world is facing the danger of environmental deterioration that must be overcome along with keeping requirements of economic development, equality and social justice.
