Main Indicators of the Ranking

  • This indicator counts citations of papers published by the University. Research disciplines that have more citations are taken into consideration when looking at the numbers so that other disciplines that do not have many citations are not affected.
  • 18% is given for reputation of the University worldwide in research among its counterparts based on more than 16 thousand questionnaires about academic reputation.
  • 6% is given for income of the University form research. It is calculated with an equation that takes into account the number of academic staff, the economic condition of each country, the national income, purchasing power and discipline of research as scientific research, for example, is given more financial support for than social research.
  • 6% is given for research productivity that is measured with a research equation that takes into account published papers in international journals, number of academic staff and research discipline.
  • 15% is given according to the result of research questionnaire answered by more than 16000 scientists from all world states and designed by Thomson Reuters Corporation that examines perceived prestige of universities in both research and teaching.
  • 6% is given for the number of doctorates awarded-to-academic staff ratio at a University via an equation that includes the number of academic staff and the variety of disciplines at the University.
  • 4% is given for academic staff-to-student ratio as an indicator of providing educational support to students.
  • 2.25% is given for doctorate-to-bachelor's ratio. The increase of doctoral students is an indicator for research environment at a University.
  • 2.25% is given for institutional income taking into consideration number of academic staff, the purchasing power and the economic conditions of each country.
  • 2.5% is given for international-to-domestic-student ratio. It refers to the ability of a higher education institution to attract international students.
  • 2.5% is given for international-to-domestic-staff ratio. It refers to the ability of a higher education institution to attract outstanding academic staff via an equation that measures the percentage of participation of international researchers in the papers published by the University.
  • This indicator refers to information transfer at a higher education institution, and demand and trust of industry in the knowledge transferred by the University. In addition, it is related to institutional ability to get financial support from competitive industrial sector. This indicator is calculated via an equation that includes institutional income from industry to academic staff ratio.
