Crises and Disasters Committee at Tanta University Faces Coronavirus

Preventive plans, awareness campaigns and a clinic at each faculty  

   Prof. 'Emad 'Etman, University Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development, has declared that Crises and Disasters Committee at Tanta University drew up a preventive plan for different faculties of the University to confront coronavirus (COVID-19) in the framework of the comprehensive plan devised by Tanta University headed by Prof. Magdi Sabi' to face novel coronavirus. He has affirmed the significance of unified media message, transparency, credibility, accessing information and presenting it to officials.

 

  University Vice President has added that the first stage of the plan to confront coronavirus in the period of suspending study at faculties includes sterilizing auditoriums and classroom immediately and closing them till students return after the suspension in addition to sterilization of offices of academic staff, administrators and employees, bathrooms and elevators daily. All surfaces, floors and furniture are sterilized daily. Furthermore, suitable number of masks and latex gloves are provided to academic staff, administrators and workers at faculties. Fingerprint time clock is no more used by employees to prevent infection. Time of attendance is organized to avoid crowding at times of arrival to work and leaving it. Number of employees at the rooms has been considered and a distance has been recommended between each employee and another. Also, a clinic has been provided at each faculty with a doctor and a nurse.

 

   The second stage, i.e. the period during which students will attend at faculties, includes cleaning auditoriums and classrooms on daily basis, evacuating them from students for enough time for cleaning again, dividing students into small groups and repeating lectures to prevent overcrowding, keeping a distance between each student and another, required ventilation of halls and auditoriums to refresh the air continuously through windows, not using closed halls with artificial ventilation, holding training and awareness courses on cleaning for workers, organizing awareness campaigns to control infection, disseminating the concept of greeting without handshaking during any event at faculties, prevention of overcrowding and keeping enough distance among attendees.
