The regular meeting of the Tanta University Council for the month of May was held today under the chairmanship of Prof. Mohamed Hussein, President of Tanta University, in the presence of Prof. Abdel Hakim Abdel Khaleq, former President of Tanta University; Prof. Fouad Hras, former President of Tanta University; Prof. Mahmoud Selim, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development; Prof. Hatem Amin, Vice President for Graduate Studies and Research; Prof. El-Sayed El-Agouz, Vice President for Education and Student Affairs; the deans of the university’s faculties; Mr. Khairy Amara, the University’s Legal Advisor; and Mr. Ahmed Rashad, Secretary-General of the University.
At the outset of the session, Prof. Mohamed Hussein extended his sincerest congratulations to the members of the Council and all members of the Tanta University community on the occasion of the approaching Eid Al-Adha. He prayed that this blessed occasion would return with goodness, prosperity, and blessings to the Arab and Islamic nations and that Egypt would continue to enjoy security, stability, and sustainable development.
The University President also expressed his deep appreciation to the deans and vice deans of the faculties for their dedicated efforts in organizing and managing the second-semester examinations for the 2025/2026 academic year at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. He commended their commitment to maintaining discipline and adhering to the regulations governing the examination process while ensuring a suitable environment for students. He further stressed the importance of maintaining a high level of readiness across all faculties to resume and continue examination activities regularly following the Eid Al-Adha holiday. In addition, he emphasized the necessity of the on-site presence of deans and faculty members and the prompt commencement of marking and grading procedures to ensure the timely announcement of examination results.
The Council also reviewed the executive measures and decisions related to the joint cooperation protocol between the Supreme Council of Universities and the New Valley Governorate, which aims to allocate land areas for Egyptian universities to reclaim and develop. The Council approved the continuation of the agreement and the activation of the partnership, affirming the University’s commitment to mobilizing all its scientific and human resources to ensure the success of this national project. It was further decided to establish a specialized joint committee comprising distinguished professors and experts from the Faculties of Science, Agriculture, and Commerce to provide scientific and technical support, as well as the necessary economic studies, to maximize sustainable benefits from the project.
On the sidelines of the meeting, the Council devoted significant attention to the issue of educational quality and academic accreditation. Prof. Wissam Salah, Director of the University’s Main Center for Institutional Performance, delivered a comprehensive presentation outlining the current status of institutional and program accreditation across the University’s various faculties, as well as the progress achieved in this vital area. The presentation focused primarily on the modern mechanisms employed to monitor Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and the implementation plans aimed at fostering a culture of quality. These efforts are intended to ensure continuous development and excellence within the educational, research, and administrative systems and to further enhance Tanta University’s standing in both national and international rankings.
