Prof. Muhammad Hussein:

    Tanta University participated under the patronage of Prof. Abdel Aziz Qansouh, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research.In the activities of the thirty-sixth edition of the European Association for International Education Conference and Exhibition «EAIE 2026», held in Glasgow, United Kingdom, with an official delegation headed by Prof. Muhammad Hussein, President of the University, and in the presence of Prof. Shahira Sharaf El-Din, Director of the University's International Cooperation Center.

    The conference will be held from September 8 to September 11, with the participation of more than 1,000 international institutions and organizations and 250 exhibitors from different countries of the world. It is considered one of the most prominent events in the field of international education.

    Tanta University strengthened its international presence on the first day of the conference through an intensive series of meetings and bilateral meetings with representatives of a number of international universities and academic institutions, with the aim of expanding the network of international partnerships and opening new horizons for academic and research cooperation. The delegation held a number of meetings with representatives of universities from the United States of America, the United Kingdom, Greece, Romania, Turkey, Jordan, China and Spain.

    The discussions addressed opportunities for establishing and developing joint and dual academic programs and degrees, cross-border education, student and academic exchange, training faculty members and researchers, implementing joint research and applied projects, and expanding cooperation in the fields of technology, engineering, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, and advanced manufacturing.

    The university delegation held a meeting with representatives of Boise State University in the United States of America, in the presence of Prof. Gonzalo Bruce, Assistant Vice Dean for Global Engagement, to discuss cooperation opportunities in the fields of engineering, technology, artificial intelligence and cybersecurity, in addition to exchanging faculty members and researchers.

    The delegation also discussed with Birmingham City University in the United Kingdom, during the meeting with Lucy Stubbs, Senior Director of International Partnership Accounts Management, mechanisms for cooperation in the field of cross-border education «TNE», and the development of academic programs and sustainable international partnerships.

    The meetings included a meeting with the University of Crete in Greece, represented by Evgenia Skontaki, Head of the International Reception Office, to discuss opportunities for student and academic exchange within the framework of the «Erasmus+» programme, in addition to the possibility of launching joint research projects between the two sides.

    The delegation met with Dr. Sorin Cazaco, Director of International Relations at the University of Craiova in Romania, where the two sides discussed academic exchange opportunities, the organization of summer schools, conferences, and joint scientific events.

    In the field of engineering and technological cooperation, the delegation held a meeting with Eskişehir Technical University in Turkey, represented by Gulsum Karaman, Head of the International Relations Department, to discuss cooperation in applied research, training programs, and joint engineering and technological projects.

    The university delegation also discussed with Doğuş University in Turkey, during the meeting with Alker Tezkash, Director of the International Relations Office, opportunities for academic cooperation and student exchange within the framework of regional partnership programmes and the «Erasmus+» programme.

    The meetings extended to the private Applied Science University in Jordan, where the delegation discussed with Prof. Mona Barakat, Dean of Scientific Research and postgraduate Studies, ways to enhance research and academic cooperation, link postgraduate programs, and develop regional partnerships between the two sides.

    The delegation also held a meeting with Shanghai Dianji University in China, during the meeting with Dr. Sylvia Ketelhout, to discuss cooperation in the fields of advanced manufacturing, smart technology, laboratories, applied research, and joint scientific projects.

    In the same context, the university delegation reviewed with the Mediterranean University School Escola Universitària Mediterrani in Spain, represented by Arnaud Lais, Director of Internationalization, opportunities for cooperation in the fields of training, student exchange, and academic programs related to administration and busineses.

    Prof. Mohamed Hussein stressed that the university's participation in «EAIE 2026» comes as a practical translation of its strategy in internationalizing education and scientific research and enhancing openness to global academic institutions, and in line with the directions of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research towards supporting the international competitiveness of Egyptian universities and expanding the scope of its partnerships with distinguished educational and research institutions.

    The university president explained that the university aims to transform the outcomes of these meetings into memoranda of understanding, agreements and sustainable implementation programmes that contribute to the creation of joint international academic programmes, increase opportunities for exchange between students, faculty members and researchers, and support international research projects, in a way that directly benefits the university's members and enhances its ability to attract international students and researchers.

    He added that expanding international partnerships represents one of the main axes in Tanta University's strategy to enhance its academic and research position, raise its competitiveness regionally and internationally, and link its educational and research programs to the latest global trends in various specializations.

    For her part, Dr. Shahira Sharaf El-Din explained that the «EAIE» conference represents an important international platform for building sustainable institutional cooperation networks between universities, stressing that the center will continue to follow up on the outcomes of the meetings held by the university delegation and work to transform them into cooperation frameworks, agreements and joint programs that serve the university's various colleges and research centers.

    She added that expanding the network of international partnerships opens new horizons for students, researchers and faculty members to benefit from global expertise, and contributes to enhancing the university's academic and research presence and supporting its position and classification at the regional and international levels.
