Prof. Muhammad Hussein: Participation reflects the university's strategy to support its sports champions and enhance its presence in continental and international forums

    Tanta University participates in the activities of the 12th African University Games 2026, held in Cairo during the period from September 8 to 16, with wide participation from universities and educational institutions from various African countries, under the patronage of Prof. Mohamed Hussein, President of Tanta University, and the leadership of Prof. Sayed Abdel Azim Al-Ajouz, Vice President of the University for Education and Student Affairs, and the supervision of Prof. Magdy Wakouk, General Coordinator of Student Activities, and Prof. Mohamed Abdel Rahim Al-Qasir ,Director General of the General Administration of Student Welfare.

    The tournament witnesses a distinguished presence from Tanta University, as it participates with a student delegation in taekwondo, wrestling, judo and athletics competitions, as part of the university's intention to enhance the participation of its students in continental championships, and provide opportunities for sports talents to interact and compete at advanced levels.

    In an achievement that reflects confidence in the administrative and sports competencies at Tanta University, Prof. Mohamed Abdel Rahim Al-Qasir, Director General of the General Administration of Student Care at the university, was chosen as the director of the five-a-side football «futsal» competitions within the activities of the African Universities Games, which confirms the distinguished position of the university's cadres and their ability to participate in managing and organizing major sporting events.

    Prof. Mohamed Hussein, President of Tanta University, stressed that the university's participation in the African Games comes as an extension of its strategy to support student activities and sponsor talented and distinguished students in sports, noting that the university pays great attention to building the integrated student personality, which combines academic excellence with the development of physical and creative skills and abilities.

    The university president added that participating in an African sports forum of this size represents an important opportunity to enhance Tanta University's presence regionally and internationally, and to consolidate bridges of communication between young people from African universities, stressing that the selection of Prof. Mohamed Abdel Rahim Al-Qasir to manage futsal competitions reflects confidence in the competencies and experience that the university possesses in the field of sports management and organizing major tournaments, wishing the university students to achieve distinguished results and raise the name of Tanta University and Egypt in various competitions.

    For his part, Prof. Al-Sayed Al-Ajouz, Vice President for Education and Student Affairs, stressed that the education and student sector places the discovery and nurturing of sports talents among its priorities, and works to provide technical and administrative support to students participating in local, continental and international tournaments, which contributes to developing their capabilities and providing them with real competitive experiences.

    The Vice President of the University pointed out that participation in the African Championship goes beyond sports competition to enhance communication and cultural rapprochement between the youth of the African continent and consolidate the values of belonging, teamwork and fair competition, stressing his confidence in the ability of Tanta University students to provide honorable performance and achieve results befitting the history and status of the university.
