Prof. Mohamed Hussein, Tanta University President, conducted an inspection tour today to monitor the progress of construction at the New Emergency Hospital affiliated with Tanta University Hospitals. He was accompanied by Prof. Ahmed Ghoneim, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Chairman of the University Hospitals Board; prof. Hassan Al-Tatawy, Executive Director of University Hospitals; hospital directors; and Prof. Hosni Doweir, Director of the Center for Engineering Research and Consultation.
During the tour, Prof. Mohamed Hussein emphasized the strategic importance of this vital project in serving the people of Gharbia Governorate and the broader Delta region. He noted that the new hospital will be the first in the Delta fully dedicated to emergency care, representing a major leap forward in delivering urgent medical services to citizens in Gharbia and neighboring governorates.
He added that construction work on the hospital’s third floor is currently underway, following the completion of the foundation work and the execution of the basement roof columns. At the conclusion of his tour, Prof. Mohamed Hussein stressed the importance of adhering to the set timelines and completing all works according to the highest quality standards. He reaffirmed the university’s full support for this project, which aims to enhance the healthcare system and provide top-tier medical services to the Delta region.
The University President explained that the hospital is located within the Tanta University Hospitals complex, covering a total area of 1,600 square meters. It is being equipped with comprehensive facilities to handle various emergency cases. The hospital will feature eight advanced operating rooms, an entire floor dedicated to burn surgeries—including two critical care rooms, specialized rooms for first- and second-degree burn cases, and both intensive and intermediate burn care units—as well as a minor operating room for simple cases. The facility will consist of a basement, ground floor, and seven upper floors, with a total capacity of 200 beds.
