Organized by Tanta University Faculty of Medicine in Alexandria: Prof. Mohamed Hussein Inaugurates the 14th Annual Scientific Conference of the Department of Clinical Pathology

Prof. Mohamed Hussein, Tanta University President , inaugurated the 14th Annual Scientific Conference of the Department of Clinical Pathology, Faculty of Medicine, Tanta University, held under the title:

“Innovations in Laboratory Medicine: Shaping the Future of Healthcare”.

The event took place at the Hilton Alexandria and was attended by Prof. Ahmed Ghoneim, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Chairman of the University Hospitals Board, Prof. Mohamed Hantira, Vice Dean for Postgraduate Studies and Research, Prof. Hassan El-Tatawy, Executive Director of University Hospitals, and Prof. Sahar Mohy El-Din Hazaa, Head of the Clinical Pathology Department and Conference Chair, along with a distinguished gathering of faculty members from the Faculty of Medicine.


In his opening remarks, Prof. Mohamed Hussein expressed his pleasure at attending the 14th annual scientific conference, noting that it represents a clear embodiment of Egypt’s National Strategy for Higher Education and Scientific Research, and aligns with Egypt Vision 2030. He emphasized the university’s deep commitment to advancing healthcare and medical services, in line with the vision of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi to enhance health systems and launch human-centered health initiatives.


He added that Tanta University, as a leading academic institution, continues to play a vital role in developing medical education and scientific research. He praised the conference as a key platform for linking scientific research with sustainable national development, underscoring that the synergy between scientific advancement and comprehensive development is critical. Scientific progress, he stated, is a main driver of innovation, job creation, healthcare enhancement, and human capacity building, all of which contribute to addressing national health challenges.


Prof. Ahmed Ghoneim, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, highlighted in his address the pivotal role of the faculty and the Department of Clinical Pathology in supporting scientific research and enhancing community healthcare. He stated that laboratory medicine forms the backbone of accurate diagnosis and effective treatment, with progress in this field directly impacting the quality of healthcare services and enabling precise clinical decisions based on accurate lab results. He also emphasized the importance of the conference in exploring new diagnostic and treatment methods to improve patients' quality of life, and expressed gratitude to Prof. Jehan Attia, Prof. Amira Youssef, and Prof. Reem Aouny, as well as the organizing committee for their efforts in the event’s successful execution.


Prof. Mohamed Hantira, Vice Dean for Postgraduate Studies and Research, stressed the critical role of scientific conferences in advancing research and training future generations of innovative researchers. He noted that the conference provides an ideal forum for presenting and discussing research, enriching the academic environment, and fostering creativity. He also emphasized its value in promoting knowledge exchange and collaboration among researchers and academics, ultimately benefitting healthcare development.


In a related context, Prof. Hassan El-Tatawy, Executive Director of University Hospitals, emphasized the importance of scientific conferences in raising the quality of healthcare services. He affirmed the university hospitals’ ongoing commitment to adopting the latest innovations in diagnostics and treatment, ensuring the delivery of world-class healthcare. He added that their continued focus on scientific research and innovation positively impacts public health and supports Egypt’s national goals for healthcare reform.


Prof. Sahar Hazaa, Head of the Clinical Pathology Department and Conference Chair, stated that the conference’s scientific program is rich and diverse, tackling the latest updates in various branches of clinical pathology. The scientific sessions covered key themes including chemistry and immunology, hematology, and microbiology. The aim of the conference, she noted, was to foster collaboration and knowledge exchange among professionals, and to build bridges that drive innovation in laboratory medicine.
