Prof. Mohamed Hussein, Tanta University President, welcomed the members of the preaching mission from Al-Azhar’s Islamic Research Academy, whose activities were launched in Gharbia Governorate during the period from August 23 to 30. This mission is held under the patronage of His Eminence Prof. Ahmed Al-Tayeb, Grand Imam of Al-Azhar Al-Sharif, and supervised by Prof. Mohamed Abdel Daim El-Gendy, Secretary-General of the Islamic Research Academy, and Prof. Mahmoud Sedky El-Hawary, Assistant Secretary-General for Preaching and Religious Media.
Prof. Mohamed Hussein expressed his pleasure at receiving the mission members, praising Al-Azhar’s pioneering role in promoting moderate Islamic thought and combating extremist ideologies. He stressed the importance of such initiatives in enhancing societal awareness of noble Islamic values, particularly in light of current challenges, affirming that the university spares no effort in supporting these initiatives.
The University President further noted that the mission plays a vital role in raising awareness among youth and society about the importance of national belonging and safeguarding state resources and both public and private property. He emphasized that these initiatives reflect Al-Azhar’s commitment to raising awareness about the sanctity of human life. The timing of the mission coinciding with the commemoration of the Prophet Muhammad’s (peace be upon him) birthday adds special significance, as it highlights the values of mercy and tolerance embodied by the Prophet. He affirmed that the university always welcomes cooperation with religious institutions to spread awareness and promote noble human values.
The meeting was attended by Sheikh Mohamed Nabil Aboul-Kheir, Director-General of Gharbia’s Preaching Department and Head of the Fatwa Committee, Sheikh Abdel Hamid El-Sayed, Assistant Secretary of the Islamic Research Academy, Sheikh Sayed Torky, Fatwa Supervisor, Sheikh Abdallah Farahat, Sheikh Ali Samir Mohamed, Sheikh Ahmed Farouk, Sheikh Ahmed Samy, members of the mission, in addition to Ihab Zaghloul, Media Coordinator of the Gharbia Preaching Region.
