The wise political vision has enabled Egyptian universities to play a pivotal role in increasing the national gross domestic product

During the regular meeting of the University Council for January 2026, Prof. Mohamed Hussein, Tanta University President, delivered a detailed presentation on the file entitled “Strategic Pillars of the University’s Executive Plan 2026.” This plan represents an integrated roadmap aimed at positioning the University as a leading institution locally and internationally through 18 strategic pillars, encompassing innovation, comprehensive digital transformation, development of university hospitals, and the enhancement of international partnerships in support of sustainable development goals.

Prof. Mohamed Hussein began his presentation by emphasizing that Egypt’s higher education and scientific research systems are currently experiencing an “unprecedented historic transformation” under the leadership of His Excellency President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi. He affirmed that this progress is clearly reflected in qualitative leaps in institutional, academic, and research performance, noting that the Egyptian state has successfully moved from the phase of traditional academic research to applied scientific research closely connected to the knowledge economy.

The Tanta University President added that the wise political vision has empowered Egyptian universities to play a direct and pivotal role in increasing the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) by linking scientific research to industry and to the State’s real developmental needs. He pointed out that Tanta University’s Plan 2026 is a direct reflection of this national direction, as it focuses on graduating internationally competitive cadres, supporting start-ups, and transforming student and research innovations into products and services that effectively contribute to national economic growth.

Prof. Mohamed Hussein concluded by outlining the implementation mechanisms of the plan’s strategic pillars, which include the full digitalization of student services through the Smart Campus model, the expansion of presidential initiatives such as “Decent Life (Haya Karima),” and a firm commitment that the University will exert its maximum efforts to implement this strategy according to a defined timeline. This, he stressed, will ensure the continued leadership of Tanta University as a beacon of knowledge and science in the heart of the Delta.
