It is worth noting that the Higher Education (HE) ranking is published independently as an American ranking system. This independent initiative aims to assess the actual performance of universities. The project seeks to provide policymakers, students, and the public with a clear and evidence-based picture of institutional performance, thereby contributing to effective improvements in teaching, research, governance, equity, and societal impact.

The higher education ranking methodology is based on 25 criteria for ranking universities, encompassing 138 indicators. These criteria include: scientific research (10% weight), teaching (7.5%), internationalization, quality assurance and academic accreditation (7% each), faculty (6.75%), student and graduate success (6%), labor market (5%), funding and grants, the university's social and cultural impact, equity, equality, diversity and inclusion, and continuing education (4% each), admissions and registration (3.25%), foreign language and linguistic influence, information technology and computer equipment, data management, support for distance learning, innovation and creativity (3% each), academic freedom, academic transparency, sustainability and governance (2.5% each), the UN Sustainable Development Goals and the 2030 Agenda, and media (2% each), creativity, support and recreation, and future-oriented thinking. The university and media each have a relative weight of 1.5%, and the media has a relative weight of 1%.
