Tanta University President Forms High-Level Committee to Study Mechanisms for Implementing Presidential Directives to Link Academic Programs to the Labor Market

Prof. Mohamed Hussein, President of Tanta University, issued a decree forming a high-level committee to develop mechanisms for implementing the directives of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi to link academic programs to labor market needs and the Sustainable Development Goals. This followed an emergency meeting of the Supreme Council of Universities, chaired by Prof. Abdel Aziz Qansouh, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, to discuss ways and mechanisms for the practical implementation of this vision.

The committee is chaired by Prof. Mohamed Hussein, President of the University, and includes the Vice Presidents, several Deans of Faculties, and a select group of experienced former university leaders.

Prof. Mohamed Hussein, President of Tanta University, emphasized the strategic importance of this new approach, asserting that the gap between academic education and the demands of the practical realities of the job market is no longer acceptable in the new republic. He noted that the university is currently working on restructuring its academic and research outputs to precisely align with the graduate profile required by the labor market, not only in the present but also in anticipation of future changes and emerging jobs. He added that the university is focused on "localizing knowledge" and transforming scientific research into practical solutions that serve the industrial and service sectors. He indicated that the committee will conduct a comprehensive review and update of the academic regulations to ensure that students acquire the skills, personal attributes, and technical expertise that make them the first choice for employers both locally and internationally.

The committee is scheduled to begin its periodic meetings to develop a roadmap encompassing all academic and specialized sectors with precise timelines. This roadmap will include studying and analyzing the current gap, engaging broad community participation, and collaborating with representatives from the industrial sector and business owners. The aim is to modernize academic programs and strengthen partnerships with the private sector and production institutions to provide outstanding training opportunities for students before graduation.
