    Within the framework of implementing the directives of His Excellency President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi to increase productivity, enhance Egyptian exports and expand the base of exporters, Dr. Mohamed Farid Saleh, Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade, launched the activities of the «Egypt Launches for Export» initiative from Tanta University in Gharbia Governorate, during a major event held under the patronage of His Excellency Prime Minister Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, with wide participation from representatives of government agencies and bodies affiliated with the Ministry, the business community, industry and trade sectors.

    At the beginning of his speech, Prof. Mohamed Hussein welcomed the attendees at Tanta University and extended his sincere appreciation and gratitude to His Excellency President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, President of the Republic, for his great interest in supporting medium, small and micro enterprises, and empowering small investors and exporters in various economic sectors, considering them one of the most important engines of economic growth, and a fundamental pillar for deepening local industrialization, increasing exports, providing job opportunities, and achieving sustainable development in various parts of the Republic Pointing out that this national vision resulted in the launch of numerous initiatives and programs that provided a more supportive environment for production and investment, and established a culture of entrepreneurship and innovation as one of the paths to building the modern Egyptian economy.

     The University President praised the pivotal role played by the Ministry of Investment and Foreign Trade through the implementation of ambitious executive plans that are based on the directives of the political leadership, and aim to enhance production and export activities, facilitate the investment environment, and raise the competitiveness of Egyptian products in regional and global markets, reflecting the state's orientation towards a more open economy capable of sustainable growth.

    He stressed that Gharbia Governorate possesses unique economic and productive components, as it is rich in a large number of small producers and exporters working in various sectors, benefiting from the richness of local resources and the diversity of the governorate's economic base, whether in food industries, spinning and weaving, engineering industries, chemical industries, heritage crafts and other productive activities that represent an added value to the national economy.

    He directed his sincere thanks and appreciation to Major General Dr. Alaa Abdel-Moati, Governor of Gharbia for his great attention to supporting these sectors, providing various logistical needs and complementary services, and continuously working to create a supportive environment for investment, production and export, which enhances the governorate's position as one of the leading industrial and production governorates in Egypt.

    The university president added that Tanta University believes that the university's role is no longer limited to education and scientific research only, but extends to include effective participation in achieving national development goals. Therefore, the university is considered a strategic partner for all state institutions in this development epic witnessed by the new republic. The university works to spread the culture of innovation and entrepreneurship, support emerging projects, and qualify youth to lead the knowledge economy, through an integrated system that includes innovation centers, business incubators, professional development centers, training programs and partnerships with various state institutions and the private sector, which contribute to transforming innovative ideas into competitive productive projects.

    The Minister stressed that the state has succeeded in achieving growing export rates, but the real challenge is to expand the base of exporting companies, noting that only 50 companies account for about 45% of total Egyptian exports, a reality that the Ministry is working to change by reaching out to companies in various governorates and qualifying them to access foreign markets.

    Farid explained that only 730 companies have benefited so far from the services of the export development system, stressing that the ministry aims to reach thousands of companies in all governorates, and introduce them to the services, programs and incentives provided by the ministry's affiliated entities, which contributes to increasing the number of exporters and raising the competitiveness of the Egyptian product.

    He added that the «Egypt Launches for Export» initiative represents a new approach in the work of the Ministry of Investment and Foreign Trade, based on transferring government services to companies within governorates and industrial parks, instead of waiting for companies to go to government agencies, stressing that increasing exports is no longer the responsibility of one party, but rather has become a national partnership that brings together the government, the private sector, governorates, universities and all supporting agencies.

    The Minister pointed out that the Ministry adopts the principle «You have the right to know» to introduce the business community to the services of the Export Development Authority, the Export Development Fund, the General Authority for Investment and Free Zones, the General Authority for Exhibitions and Conferences, and the Commercial Representation Authority, explaining that the initiative includes specialized workshops that practically review all services and programs that support companies in their journey towards export.

    Farid stressed that the ministry aims to provide more opportunities and export contracts for Egyptian brands, which will enhance their presence in global markets, adding: "Just as we succeeded in introducing Mohamed Salah to the world in football, we aim to introduce Egyptian companies that achieve the same success with their products in global markets."

    The Minister explained that the value of Gharbia Governorate's exports amounted to about $2.1 billion during the past five years, stressing that the governorate possesses a strong industrial and production base that qualifies it to increase its contribution to exports, and that the Ministry looks forward to creating positive competition between the governorates to increase their ranking on the map of Egyptian exports.

    He pointed out that exporting is a craft that requires building capabilities and refining companies' skills, which is what the Ministry is working on through training and qualification programs, stressing that success in increasing exports requires perseverance and joint work between all state institutions, and that expanding the base of exporters will remain a top priority during the next stage.

    The Minister also announced that the Ministry is considering launching competitions and rewards for companies that are more advanced in increasing their exports, with the aim of encouraging competition and motivating companies to expand in foreign markets.

    He stressed that Gharbia Governorate possesses distinct economic and productive components thanks to the diversity of its industrial, agricultural and service activities, and its embrace of a large number of producers and exporters in vital sectors, which makes it one of the governorates supporting the process of economic development and increasing Egyptian exports.

    During his speech, Major General Dr. Alaa Abdel-Moaty, Governor of Gharbia, welcomed the attendees, expressing his pride in Gharbia Governorate hosting the launch activities of the «Egypt Launches for Export» initiative at Tanta University, stressing that the initiative reflects the Egyptian state's orientation towards building a more productive and competitive economy, and enhancing the capabilities of Egyptian products to access global markets, in implementation of the vision of the political leadership led by His Excellency President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, President of the Republic, to increase exports, attract investments, and achieve sustainable economic development.

    The Governor of Gharbia stressed that selecting the governorate to host this event reflects its distinguished industrial and production capabilities, as well as the economic clusters, productive villages, and small and medium-sized enterprises it encompasses. He noted that Gharbia seeks to maximize the utilization of these assets and transform them into a driving force for production and exports, thereby strengthening the position of Egyptian products in foreign markets and enhancing the governorate’s contribution to achieving the state’s targets for increasing exports.

    The governor explained that the governorate places supporting economic blocs and productive villages at the top of its priorities, by improving the quality of products, developing the production, packaging and marketing system, and empowering craftsmen and productive projects, which raises the added value of the local product and opens new markets for it, in addition to creating an attractive climate for investment, supporting the private sector, and linking education and training to the needs of industry, which contributes to preparing qualified cadres and enhancing the competitiveness of productive sectors.

    The Governor of Gharbia concluded his speech by emphasizing that the success of the export system begins with the quality of the product, which the governorate works to achieve through cooperation with various concerned parties to develop and qualify products according to international standards, stressing that integration between the government, the private sector and universities represents a fundamental pillar for achieving economic development, and that Gharbia will continue to support all national initiatives that aim to enhance industry, investment and export, transforming the governorate's components into productive and investment opportunities that contribute to supporting the national economy and consolidating the position of «Made in Egypt» in global markets.
