Prof. Mohammed Hussein: We are moving internationally to build sustainable institutional partnerships that open new paths for education and scientific research and provide our students and researchers with global opportunities

    The Tanta University delegation participating in the activities of the annual conference and exhibition of the European Association for International Education EAIE 2026, held in Glasgow, United Kingdom, continued its intensive activity for the second day in a row, through an expanded series of meetings and meetings with representatives of a number of universities and international institutions from the United States, Europe, Asia and Latin America, to discuss opportunities for academic and research cooperation and investment in the internationalization of education.

    The second day witnessed intensive strategic action, as Prof. Mohamed Hussein, President of Tanta University, met with a delegation from the Gulf Company, to discuss opportunities for joint cooperation and investment with a number of Arab and African universities, in the field of developing and internationalizing university education, linking academic and training programs to the needs of regional and international labor markets, and expanding academic and professional exchange paths.

    On the level of cooperation with American universities, the university delegation held a discussion session inside the Egyptian pavilion with the Auburn University delegation, in coordination and support from the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research. The discussions witnessed ways to activate student exchange programs, develop joint academic programs and degrees, and enhance cooperation in advanced research and technological fields, which opens new opportunities for students, researchers, and faculty members at the university.

    Prof. Mohamed Hussein also met with representatives of the German University of Jena, continuing the cooperation efforts between the two sides that began last year. The meeting discussed moving forward with concrete steps to implement joint research projects and academic exchange programs, as well as benefiting from available international funding opportunities.

      The delegation's meetings extended to the Union of Mediterranean Universities UNIMED, where opportunities for Tanta University to participate in capacity building projects and joint regional programs targeting universities in the Mediterranean countries were discussed, and the delegation also held a meeting with representatives of Edinburgh Napier University to discuss TNE cross-border education models and the possibility of developing Joint academic programs and dual degrees between the two sides.

    The meetings also included representatives of the Universities of Pisa and Milan, Italy, with the aim of expanding scholarship opportunities and student and academic exchange through Erasmus+ programs and supporting joint research and educational projects.

    As part of the university's move to diversify its international partnerships, the delegation met with representatives of Seinan Gakuin University in Japan to discuss opportunities for academic and cultural exchange and cooperation in a number of humanitarian and applied fields. The delegation also held coordination meetings with Sun Yat-sen University in China to enhance scientific and research ties with major Asian universities, as well as with the Federal University of Santa Catarina (UFSC) in Brazil, to open new paths of cooperation with higher education institutions in Latin America.

    The meetings also included international relations officials at Aditya University in India, where the two sides discussed opportunities to exchange students and researchers and enhance cooperation in the fields of engineering, computers and advanced technology.

    Prof. Mohammed Hussein emphasized that the university's extensive participation in EAIE 2026 activities comes within the framework of a clear vision aimed at moving international cooperation from mere agreements and protocols to effective institutional partnerships with direct academic, research, and developmental impact. He explained that the university is working to build a broad international network of partners capable of supporting joint and dual degree programs, student and research exchange, internationally funded projects, and the transfer of expertise and technology.

    The university president added that Tanta University is moving internationally with confidence to provide real opportunities for its students, researchers and faculty members, enhance its competitiveness and position in global rankings, and link its educational and research system to global transformations and the needs of future labor markets, stressing that these moves come in line with the national strategy for higher education and scientific research and the Egyptian state's orientation towards building more competitive, open and influential universities at the regional and international levels.

    For her part, Dr. Shahira Sharaf El-Din, Director of the International Cooperation Center at Tanta University, stressed that the university's participation in the conference represents an important opportunity to build new institutional relationships and expand the scope of cooperation with international universities, noting that the center is working to translate these meetings into clear executive paths that include student and academic exchange, joint research projects, and dual and joint degree programs, in a way that supports the university's strategy in internationalization and enhancing its presence on the international higher education map.
