Muhammad Hussein: We open new horizons for international partnerships in training and forming research teams in the fields of medicine and health care

Tanta University presents its vision for Chinese–African cooperation towards smart health care during the University Presidents Forum in China

    Prof. Mohamed Hussein, President of Tanta University, gave a presentation on Tanta University's experience in developing infrastructure and digital infrastructure, modernizing laboratories, and advancing research systems in the fields of medicine and healthcare. He delivered the presentation during his participation in a working session within the axis, “Innovation, Cooperation and Partnership Building: China–Africa Towards Smart Healthcare,” as part of the activities of the Chinese and African University Presidents Forum to Anticipate the Future Development of Education, held in Changsha, People's Republic of China.

    The working session witnessed the participation of a number of university presidents and vice presidents, as well as deans of scientific and research institutions from China and several African countries.

    During the presentation, the President of Tanta University reviewed the most prominent development axes witnessed by the university, and the trends it has adopted aimed at supporting the research environment and modernizing the equipment, infrastructure and digital infrastructure necessary for scientific research, medical education and health services, in a way that enhances the university's ability to keep pace with the rapid developments in the fields of medicine, technology and smart healthcare.

    Prof. Mohamed Hussein also discussed Tanta University's vision to maximize the benefit from digital transformation and modern technologies in supporting scientific research and medical services, and the importance of integration between advanced infrastructure, qualified human cadres, and applied scientific research to build a more efficient and sustainable health system.

    The University President presented to representatives of the participating universities and institutions a number of international cooperation opportunities that Tanta University seeks to develop during the next phase, most notably the implementation of joint training and capacity building programs, the exchange of scientific and academic expertise, in addition to the formation of joint research teams in the fields of medicine and health care, which allows the implementation of multidisciplinary research projects and the benefit of the diverse expertise and experiences of Chinese and African universities.

    Prof. Mohamed Hussein stressed that Tanta University adopts an approach that aims to move international partnerships from merely exchanging expertise to sustainable institutional and research partnerships with applied returns, pointing out that contemporary health challenges require expanding the scope of cooperation between universities and research centers, and forming international research networks capable of producing innovative, applicable solutions.

    He added that the university welcomes expanding cooperation with participating universities in the areas of joint training, exchange of faculty members and researchers, development of research capabilities, and formation of joint scientific teams and projects in priority medical and health specialties, which contributes to supporting the quality of health care and benefiting from applications of technology and innovation.
