Prof. Mohamed Hussein, Tanta University President, Attends Ceremony Announcing Results of Scientific Competition “Rheumatic Diseases Among Youth”


Prof. Mohamed Hussein, Tanta University President, attended the ceremony announcing the results of the scientific competition “Rheumatic Diseases Among Youth”, which was launched by the University Medical Administration in cooperation with the Department of Rheumatology, Physical Medicine, and Rehabilitation at the Faculty of Medicine, Tanta University. The event was held in the activities theatre at the Faculty of Physical Education in the Sibrbay campus.


The ceremony was attended by Prof. Hany Said, Dean of the Faculty of Sports Sciences, Prof. Mohamed Hantira, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Medicine for Postgraduate Studies and Research, Prof. Loay Al-Ahwal, Vice Dean for Community Service and Environmental Development, Prof. Amr Abdel Moneim, General Supervisor of the Medical Administration, Prof. Hanan El-Saadany, Head of the Department of Rheumatology and Physical Medicine, Prof. Hany Nagi Ahmed, Director of the Military Center for Physical Therapy and Rheumatology and the scientific guest of honor, and media personality Lamia Fahmy Abdel Hamid.


In his speech, Prof. Mohamed Hussein expressed his pleasure in witnessing the culmination of a noble effort and a valuable initiative aimed at raising health awareness among promising young people. He emphasized that the event was not merely a celebration of outstanding students, but rather a reaffirmation of the importance of knowledge in building a capable and healthy society. He stressed that organizing such a competition is clear evidence of the university’s commitment to student health and its dedication to providing them with accurate medical information to confront various health challenges.


Prof. Hussein added that rheumatic diseases might seem irrelevant to young people, but in reality, they can significantly affect their lives and hinder their paths. He thanked Prof. Ahmed Ghoneim, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, for his support and patronage; Prof. Hany Said, Dean of the Faculty of Physical Education, for hosting the event; and Prof. Amr Abdel Moneim for his sincere efforts in organizing the initiative. He also extended special thanks to Prof. Hanan El-Saadany for her exceptional leadership and supervision, and expressed profound appreciation to Prof. Hany Nagi Ahmed for his valuable participation and the enrichment he brought to the event through his military and academic experience. Finally, he thanked the distinguished media figure Lamia Fahmy Abdel Hamid for her presence and media support for this important health issue.


The university president also took the opportunity to congratulate the winning students, stating that their participation and their keenness to provide correct answers reflected admirable awareness and a sense of responsibility. He noted that the prizes symbolize their excellence and serve as motivation for them and their peers to continue their pursuit of knowledge.


The event featured a detailed focus on several common rheumatic diseases and their impact on quality of life. These included rheumatic back pain, rheumatic joint pain, and fibromyalgia syndrome, which causes widespread chronic pain. Attendees were provided with a deeper understanding of these conditions, including methods of accurate diagnosis and the latest pharmaceutical and non-pharmaceutical treatment approaches. A significant portion of the session was dedicated to managing rheumatic symptoms and improving mobility and flexibility.


During the ceremony, Prof. Mohamed Hussein presented the university shield to Prof. Hany Nagi Ahmed and to esteemed media figure Lamia Fahmy Abdel Hamid. The winning students were also honored and awarded monetary prizes.
