Tanta University Council Honors the University Hospitals’ Team


The Tanta University Council, chaired by Prof. Mohamed Hussein, Tanta university President , honored the team from the university hospitals in recognition of their role in securing provisional accreditation for the New Surgical Hospital from the General Authority for Healthcare Accreditation and Regulation (GAHAR). This achievement reflects the university sector’s leading role in delivering high-quality healthcare and its commitment to both national and international standards.


The recognition included leaders and members of the accreditation team whose efforts led to this milestone:


Prof. Ahmed Ghoneim, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Chairman of the University Hospitals Board,


Prof. Mohamed Hantira, Vice Dean for Postgraduate Studies and Research,


Prof. Hassan El-Tatawy, Executive Director of University Hospitals,


Prof. Ahmed Sweilem, Director of the Main and Surgical Hospital,


Prof. Mohamed Mokhtar Mabrouk, Director of the Quality and Accreditation Department,


Prof. Ragia Sharshar, Deputy Director of Quality, Accreditation and the Arab Board,


Prof. Mohamed Sarhan, Deputy Director of the Main and Surgical Hospital,


Prof. Amani Abou El-Enein, Director of the Infection Control Unit,


Prof. Rehab Helal, Director of the ICU at the Surgical Hospital,


Prof. Ahmed Ibrahim, Director of Operations at the Surgical Hospital, and


Prof. Dalia Abou Reyah, Director of Pharmacy at the Surgical Hospital.



Prof. Mohamed Hussein praised the achievement as a major step in developing patient care services and enhancing the status of Tanta University Hospitals as a model within Egypt’s healthcare sector. He expressed immense pride in obtaining the GAHAR provisional accreditation, describing it not merely as a quality certificate but as the culmination of tireless teamwork and continuous effort.


He emphasized that the accreditation reflects Tanta University’s firm commitment to providing high-quality healthcare services for all patients and highlights the central role that university hospitals play within Egypt’s healthcare system. He reiterated the university’s commitment to investing in cutting-edge medical technologies and equipment, while continuously developing the skills of doctors, nurses, and technical staff to ensure the best possible patient outcomes. Prof. Hussein thanked every member of the university hospitals' team, stressing that this success would not have been possible without their dedication and professionalism.


During the ceremony, Prof. Ahmed Ghoneim, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Chairman of the University Hospitals Board, delivered a detailed presentation outlining the team’s efforts in achieving provisional accreditation from GAHAR. He reviewed the strategic steps and rigorous procedures undertaken to meet the Authority’s strict requirements—covering a wide range of healthcare criteria. Prof. Ghoneim highlighted that this success was the result of strategic planning, cohesive teamwork, and an unwavering commitment to excellence in healthcare services.


The recognition took place during the June regular session of the Tanta University Council, chaired by Prof. Mohamed Hussein, and attended by Prof. Fouad Harass and Prof. Abdel Hakim Abdel Khalek, former university presidents; Prof. Mahmoud Salim, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development; Prof. Hatem Amin, Vice President for Postgraduate Studies and Research; faculty deans, the university's legal advisor, and the university secretary-general.
