The Council of Tanta University, in its most recent meeting, reviewed a comprehensive strategic framework for the initiative aimed at developing and preparing academic leaders while strengthening international competitiveness. The initiative, launched by the Community Service and Environmental Development Sector, seeks to achieve a qualitative leap in the outcomes of the International Center for Faculty and Leadership Development through activating the role of the University’s central hub for sustainable training. It aspires to build a second and third tier of academic leadership capable of strategic planning and effective change management, with a particular focus on enhancing international competitiveness, digital transformation, and institutional governance amid the growing challenges facing the higher education sector.

Prof. Mohamed Hussein, President of Tanta University, affirmed that the University places investment in human capital at the forefront of its priorities to achieve institutional excellence and strengthen its global standing. He noted that the initiative represents a strategic necessity aligned with the Ministry of Higher Education’s direction to ensure leadership qualification both prior to and during the assumption of leadership roles. He further emphasized that the University aims, through this vision, to deliver an integrated training system grounded in global best practices, ensuring the institution’s capacity to effectively fulfill its mission in education, scientific research, and community service.

For his part, Prof. Mahmoud Selim, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development, explained that the initiative is distinguished by its inclusiveness, extending to faculty members, academic leaders, administrative staff, as well as personnel in university hospitals and central administrative units. He added that the training program adopts modern methodologies such as leadership simulation, project-based learning, and real-case studies, while focusing on contemporary themes including artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, the economics of education, and crisis management in work environments. This approach aims to ensure the preparation of leaders capable of building high-performance teams and achieving both financial and institutional sustainability.
