Tanta University, believing in its academic and educational role and based on its national and societal responsibility, is committed to supporting and implementing Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) policies both inside and outside the campus. This commitment is realized by activating mechanisms and applying practices that ensure equality among all segments of society, aiming to eliminate discrimination based on race, religion, gender, age, social class, physical disability, or other group affiliations.
Mechanisms for Implementing Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion Policies for all Community Groups within Tanta University:

• Diversity and Admission Policies

Student Admission Policies:
Regarding student admissions, Tanta University is committed to accepting students from all groups regardless of race, religion, gender, social class, or physical disability, provided they meet the other admission requirements.

Academic and Staff Recruitment Policies:
Tanta University is committed to appointing and promoting academics and employees based on their scientific and administrative abilities and competencies, regardless of race, religion, gender, social class, or physical disability, provided they meet the requirements, qualifications, and scientific and administrative experiences required for appointment or promotion in the various positions within the university.

Policies for Accepting Individuals from Outside the University:
Tanta University is committed to receiving visitors and those interacting with it from all segments of society, welcoming them, and cooperating with them regardless of race, religion, gender, age, social class, physical disability, or other group affiliations.

• Inclusion and Integration Policies

Student Integration Policies:
Tanta University is committed to facilitating and supporting the enrollment of female students, particularly in disciplines where their representation is low. The University has also established dedicated units to serve students with disabilities, in addition to constructing various facilities and providing services and assistance designed to ease their academic study. Furthermore, the University regularly organizes awareness seminars to promote the concept of religious tolerance and respect for all faiths. It is committed to admitting international students from all nationalities and ethnic backgrounds. The University also offers support to students from low-income backgrounds in ways that preserve their dignity and enable them to continue their higher education.

Academic and Staff Integration Policies:
Tanta University is committed to allocating no less than 5% of its jobs to individuals with physical disabilities. The University also grants fully paid maternity leave to pregnant employees, as well as early departure permissions for mothers of infants, in accordance with the provisions of the Egyptian Labor Law. Additionally, the University has established a Child and Mother Care Center and allocated facilities to provide childcare services for its staff. It also organizes workshops and training sessions that aim to promote the concept of accepting difference and mutual respect within the workplace.

Policies for Integrating Individuals from Outside the University:
Tanta University provides all means of assistance and facilitates procedures for its visitors and those interacting with it who are elderly or have disabilities. The university has also established dedicated facilities for people with disabilities to ease their mobility throughout the campus.

Equality Policies Among Students: Tanta University is committed to ensuring equality among all its students regardless of their affiliations. It also abides by providing protection, support, and care for the more vulnerable and priority groups among its students to guarantee equal opportunities. According to this policy, the university has established a center for supporting blind and disabled students, as well as a center for students with special needs, through which it provides all forms of assistance to facilitate their academic studies and create a suitable and supportive environment for them at the university.

The university also supports female students and provides them with the opportunity to study at all scientific departments within the university equally with male students, without any restrictions or discrimination based on their gender. The university strictly prohibits all forms of discrimination against students based on race, religion, gender, social class, or physical disability, and takes all necessary measures to protect them from persecution, including disciplinary actions against anyone proven to be involved in persecuting any student for any reason.

Equality Policies Among Academics and Administrative Staff:

Tanta University is committed to ensuring equality among all academics and administrative staff within the institution, regardless of their group affiliations. Principles of justice and equal opportunity are applied to both academics and administrative staff without discrimination based on race, religion, gender, age, social class, or physical disability. The university organizes annual training courses that address the principles of justice, equality, and the prevention of persecution and discrimination in the workplace. Moreover, the university has established a center for analyzing complaints and studying development proposals to receive and address any complaints related to workplace persecution. It takes all necessary measures to protect academics and staff exposed to persecution and enforces disciplinary actions against anyone proven to be involved in oppressive practices or discrimination against any academic staff member or administrative employee within the university.
