Prof. Mohamed Hussein, President of Tanta University, held an online meeting today between Tanta University and WSG University in Bydgoszcz, Poland, to explore avenues for joint cooperation and discuss the renewal of the cooperation agreement between the two institutions. The initiative aims to support the educational process and enhance joint academic, training, and research programs, in line with Tanta University’s commitment to strengthening international academic cooperation and fostering partnerships with distinguished European universities.
Representing Tanta University at the meeting were Prof. Adel Abu Zeid, Former Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture and Coordinator for Relations with the Polish University; Prof. Shahira Sharaf El-Din, Executive Director of the Main Center for International Relations and Expatriate Affairs; and Prof. Naira Abdel Dayem, Director of the University Center for Career Development at the Faculty of Commerce. The Polish delegation included the Vice President for International Relations, the Head of the Department of Mechanics, and the Head of Administrative Affairs.
During the meeting, Prof. Mohamed Hussein presented a comprehensive overview of Tanta University, its faculties, and its distinguished academic programs. He emphasized the University’s ongoing efforts to enhance training programs and align education with labor market requirements. He further noted that the internationalization of higher education and scientific research remains a strategic priority for Tanta University, which is committed to building sustainable and meaningful partnerships with leading European institutions such as WSG University.
Prof. Hussein expressed his aspiration to develop innovative educational programs that integrate academic learning with practical training tailored to industry needs. Such initiatives, he explained, would prepare graduates capable of competing effectively in both local and international labor markets while providing students and faculty members with valuable training and research opportunities through international exchange platforms. He also stressed that the University seeks to expand its role in educational diplomacy as a key pillar for achieving the goals of Egypt’s National Higher Education Strategy and Egypt Vision 2030 for Sustainable Development.
For their part, the Polish representatives introduced WSG University, its faculties, and its academic offerings in engineering, computer science, public health, humanities, and the arts. They highlighted the University’s educational philosophy, which emphasizes practical training and the integration of academic study with industry demands.
Discussions focused in particular on the Mechatronics and Business Information Systems (BIS) programs, with the aim of exploring the establishment of dual-degree programs jointly offered by the two universities. Such programs would provide students with exceptional educational and training opportunities while enhancing graduates’ prospects in the international job market.
In the same context, Prof. Naira Abdel Dayem delivered a detailed presentation on the distinguished programs offered by the Faculty of Commerce at Tanta University, particularly those taught in English and those designed to enhance employability through service and training centers. She also outlined potential areas for future academic cooperation.
The two sides further discussed mechanisms for renewing the previous cooperation agreement, which has expired, and activating a new agreement encompassing academic and research collaboration. They also explored participation in Erasmus exchange programs for students and academics, as well as the possibility of organizing online lectures and educational events between the two institutions.
In addition, the meeting reviewed WSG University’s admission requirements and recognized English language qualifications for enrollment in its programs, including internationally recognized certificates such as IELTS, TOEFL, and FCE.
It is worth noting that WSG University is a private institution accredited under the European Bologna Process framework, providing graduates of joint programs with enhanced opportunities for degree recognition and employment across European Union member states. The University is also recognized as one of Poland’s leading practice-oriented institutions, having ranked second among universities with a strong practical profile in the Perspektywy 2025 ranking, which evaluates educational quality and its alignment with labor market needs.
