Professor Mohamed Hussein, President of Tanta University, received today Engineer Ahmed Badr, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Misr Spinning and Weaving Company in El-Mahalla El-Kubra, in the presence of Professor Mahmoud Selim, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development. The meeting focused on exploring mechanisms to strengthen cooperation between the University and the Company in training, research, and applied fields, as well as exchanging expertise between the two institutions in a manner that supports national industry and aligns university educational outcomes with labor market needs.
During the meeting, both parties discussed avenues for expanding cooperation between Tanta University and Misr Spinning and Weaving Company in El-Mahalla El-Kubra, one of Egypt’s leading industrial strongholds. Proposed areas of collaboration included providing specialized training opportunities for university students within a real production environment, offering employment opportunities for graduates in accordance with the Company’s workforce requirements, and cooperating in applied research, technical consultancy, skills development, and innovation support in sectors related to industry and production.
Professor Mohamed Hussein emphasized that Tanta University places great importance on strengthening partnerships with major industrial and productive institutions as part of its responsibility to prepare qualified graduates capable of competing in the labor market. He noted that cooperation with Misr Spinning and Weaving Company represents a significant model of integration between academia and industry, particularly in light of Egypt’s ongoing efforts to develop national industry and maximize the utilization of the human and research capacities available within universities.
The President of the University further stated that Tanta University possesses a diverse range of academic and research expertise that can be leveraged to serve production sectors. He affirmed that the coming period would witness greater coordination to establish an executive framework for cooperation, encompassing student-oriented training programs, professional qualification opportunities, and research and applied projects that address industrial needs and reinforce the University’s developmental and societal role within the Delta region.
For his part, Professor Mahmoud Selim, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development, explained that the meeting reflects Tanta University’s commitment to building bridges of cooperation with industrial and productive institutions and transforming academic knowledge into practical applications with a tangible impact.
He stressed that the University’s Community Service and Environmental Development Sector actively supports partnerships that provide students with meaningful training opportunities and practical experience, while opening professional pathways for graduates that align with their specializations and labor market demands.
Professor Selim added that cooperation with Misr Spinning and Weaving Company creates opportunities for the implementation of joint training, awareness-raising, and professional development programs, while enabling both parties to benefit from each other’s expertise in enhancing the capabilities of students and graduates. Such cooperation would also support the University’s initiatives in community service and environmental development, thereby strengthening the integration between higher education and the industrial sector.
