Prof. Mohamed Hussein, President of Tanta University, chaired the meeting of the Higher Committee for the General Oversight of Electronic Publishing of University Textbooks, which convened today. The meeting was attended by a distinguished group of university leaders and deans, including Prof. El-Sayed El-Agooz, Vice President for Education and Student Affairs; Prof. Mohamed Hantira, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Chairman of the University Hospitals Board; Prof. Ahmed Helal, Dean of the Faculty of Education; Dr. Emad Othman, former Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development; Prof. Mohamed Gaber, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Medicine for Education and Student Affairs; Prof. Amal Kabbash, Professor Emerita at the Faculty of Pharmacy; Mr. Ahmed Rashad, Secretary-General of the University; and Dr. Haitham El-Koumy, Director General of Education.
Prof. Mohamed Hussein emphasized that the transition to interactive electronic university textbooks represents a strategic step toward enhancing the quality of the educational process and providing students with a flexible learning environment enriched with links and resources that foster creativity and facilitate comprehension of academic content. He further affirmed the university’s commitment to ensuring that textbook prices remain fair and affordable for all students, while guaranteeing the immediate and free provision of interactive textbooks to financially disadvantaged students through clear and transparent mechanisms.
The meeting addressed mechanisms for developing university textbooks and converting them into advanced interactive electronic formats in accordance with the standards and regulations established by the Supreme Council of Universities. Discussions also focused on proposals aimed at enriching textbooks with links and supplementary materials that enhance students’ understanding of academic subjects and maximize educational benefits. Furthermore, the committee reviewed pricing policies for electronic university textbooks to ensure their accessibility to all students, while establishing clear and equitable mechanisms to provide textbooks free of charge to financially disadvantaged students, thereby reinforcing the university’s commitment to supporting equal educational opportunities.
