Prof. Mohamed Hussein, President of Tanta University, participated at the head of a delegation from the university, in the dialogue session entitled «Religious Discourse and its Impact on Values in Society», which was attended by His Excellency President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, President of the Republic, in the presence of Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, Prime Minister, as part of the activities of the Egypt Forum 2026.
The university delegation included Prof. Afef Basal, Dean of the Faculty of Nursing; Prof. Mona Al-Aasar, Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy; Prof. Sherine Abdel Mawla, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry for Education and Student Affairs; Prof. Nevin Azmy, Director of the university’s Environmental Science and Technology Center and a Professor at the Faculty of Engineering; and Prof. Mai Wahba, Professor and Director of the Quality Assurance Unit at the Faculty of Engineering, along with a number of students. This participation reflects the university’s commitment to actively engaging in national dialogues addressing intellectual and societal issues related to building the Egyptian person and strengthening values and national awareness.
Prof. Mohammed Hussein explained that the session addressed a pivotal issue directly related to building national awareness and shaping the conscience of new generations, pointing out that building awareness is not limited to correcting religious concepts, but extends to developing the ability to think critically and distinguish between facts and misleading information, and consolidating the values of citizenship, tolerance, acceptance of others and respect for diversity, in a way that enhances the cohesion of the societal fabric and protects young people from extremist ideas.
The President of Tanta University added that what His Excellency President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi stressed during the session regarding the importance of balanced religious construction and the integration of the awareness role with the rule of law reflects the importance of adopting a comprehensive vision for building the human being, in which educational, cultural, religious and media roles are integrated, stressing that universities represent one of the main foundations of this system, as institutions for building personality, developing awareness and social responsibility, in addition to their role in education and scientific research.
Prof. Mohamed Hussein also stressed Tanta University's keenness to translate these visions into educational and dialogue activities and programs targeting university students, and opening spaces for them for conscious and responsible discussion, in a way that supports their national belonging, enhances their ability to participate positively in the issues of their community and contribute to building the future of their country.
