Minister of Higher Education affirms:
• Student activities reinforce values and enhance teamwork among university youth.

Under the patronage of Prof. Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Tanta University organized its University Sports Festival as part of the "100 Days of Sports" initiative launched by Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research last September. The event was part of the Ministry’s plan to implement the presidential "A New Beginning for Human Development" initiative.
The festival welcomed the participation of 3,500 students from various university faculties in attendance of Prof. Mohamed Hussein, Acting President of Tanta University; Prof. Mostafa Bayoumi, Assistant Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research for Student Life and Sustainable Development and Vice President of the Egyptian University Sports Federation; Prof. Ahmed Kamel, Secretary-General of the Egyptian University Sports Federation; Prof. Magdy Wakouk, General Coordinator of Student Activities at Tanta University; Mr. Mohamed El-Qasir, General Manager of the General Administration for Student Welfare at the university; and several deans and vice deans of faculties.
In this regard, Prof. Ayman Ashour affirmed the pivotal role of student activities within the educational system, noting that participation in sports activities reinforces values, enhances teamwork and collaboration, creates social bonds, and contributes to character development, preparing students to be an aware generation capable of dealing with current and future challenges.
In addition, the Minister indicated that the "100 Days of Sports" initiative is part of the Ministry’s plan to implement the President's "A New Beginning for Human Development” initiative, which has had significant engagement across Egyptian universities. The initiative registered participation from 32 universities, with 30,000 students involved over the past two weeks, including 53% males and 47% females. This level of participation reflects students' enthusiasm for this initiative, which aims to enhance physical health, promote competition, and inspire innovation.
Prof. Mohamed Hussein stated that the university aims to organize a range of sports events and activities, encouraging active student participation. He asserted that registration platforms are available for all sports activities, ensuring opportunities for all students to participate, while emphasizing the role of these activities in discovering and supporting talented and creative student athletes, preparing them for participation in local and international championships.
Furthermore, Prof. Mohamed Hussein stated that the sports festival included the inauguration of the Egyptian Universities E-Sports Tournament section, as well as organizing a sports marathon with students from various faculties. The festival also featured sports displays in several disciplines, such as taekwondo, gymnastics, karate, archery, basketball, handball, tennis, and badminton. Additionally, the activities included inspection tours of the gym facilities for students with disabilities and visits to the sports fields, reflecting the university's interest in providing a comprehensive sports environment for all students.
