Prof. Mohamed Hussein, Acting President of Tanta University, attended the 14th Annual Conference of the Nephrology Unit at Tanta University, held over two days under the title “New Perspectives on Improving Kidney Health”. The conference was organized in collaboration with the Egyptian Society of Nephrology and Transplantation (ESNT), the International Society of Nephrology (ISN), and the European Renal Association (ERA-EDTA). The conference was held with participation of Prof. Kamal Okasha, former Vice President of Tanta University for Postgraduate Studies and Research, Conference President, and Head of the Scientific Research and Innovation Committee at the International Center for Regenerative Medicine and Stem Cells at Ministry of Defense; Prof. Mohamed Hantira, Vice Dean of Tanta University's Faculty of Medicine for Postgraduate Studies and Research; Prof. Hassan Al-Tatawy, Executive Manager of Tanta University Hospitals; Prof. Gamal Al-Najjar, Professor of Internal Medicine and Nephrology, Head of the Nephrology Department, and Conference Vice President; and Prof. Mabrouk Al-Sheikh, Professor of Internal Medicine and Nephrology.
Prof. Mohamed Hussein expressed his delight at attending the conference, which brought together an elite group of scientists, researchers, and innovative physicians to exchange knowledge and expertise, keep up with the latest advancements in nephrology, and enhance collaboration between the university and national and international nephrology societies. He extended his gratitude to the organizing committee for their strenuous efforts in ensuring the conference's success and to all the speakers and participants who enriched the event with their valuable research and practical experience.
Prof. Kamal Okasha announced the conference’s recommendations, which included aligning academic and scientific research outcomes with the treatment of prevalent diseases based on local community needs. Additionally, the recommendations emphasized employing modern diagnostic and therapeutic technologies, including artificial intelligence, while adhering to international protocols and standards. This approach aims to achieve new insights for improving kidney health and enhancing healthcare systems as part of the main goals of Egypt’s vision 2030. The recommendations also highlighted the significance of initiating a kidney transplantation program, given its positive impact on improving the quality of life for patients with chronic kidney failure.
