Prof. Mohamed Hussein, Acting President of Tanta University, participated today in the launching ceremony of “You Are Not Alone” initiative at the Service Center for Students with Disabilities at Faculty of Arts in the context of the efforts exerted by the university to enhance the “Empowerment” Initiative. The ceremony was attended by Prof. Mahmoud Selim, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development; Prof. Mamdouh Al-Masry, Dean of Faculty of Arts; Prof. Abdel Razek Al-Komy, Vice Dean for Postgraduate Studies and Research; Prof. Raafat Abo El-Enain, Vice Dean for Community Service and Environmental Development; Prof. Amr Abdel Monem, General Supervisor of the Medical Administration; and Prof. Mohamed Mereikab, Manager of the Service Center for Students with Disabilities at the university, along with many university students with disabilities, their parents, and lecturers specialized in psychiatry and behavioral therapy.
Prof. Mohamed Hussein affirmed that the “You Are Not Alone” initiative reflects the university’s ongoing efforts to enhance the “Empowerment” initiative, which focuses on creating a supportive and inclusive environment for students with disabilities. The initiative aims to provide specialized services and facilities that empower these students to integrate into the university community and prepare them to actively contribute to society. Prof. Hussein confirmed his unwavering support for these students, commended the organizers of the initiative, and highlighted the psychological support offered for the disabled students during the final exams of the first semester.
In his speech, Prof. Mahmoud Selim expressed his pleasure for engaging with students with disabilities, describing this time as an era of complete inclusivity for the disabled under the leadership of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi. He highlighted the Community Service Sector’s dedication to providing assistive devices, including laptops and hearing aids for students with disabilities, and its involvement in initiatives like the “Ettamen” (Be Assured) campaign for the early detection of hyperactivity, attention deficit, and autism in schools.
