Prof. Mohamed Hussein, Acting President of Tanta University, announced the university's remarkable progress in the January 2025 edition of the Webometrics ranking. The university was listed among the top 10 Egyptian universities in terms of citation index ranking out of 55 Egyptian universities with more than 1,000 citations, as per the Google Scholar platform.

The Acting President of University added that according to the latest release (January 2025, version 19.1.0) of the TRANSPARENT RANKING: Top Universities by Citations in Top Google Scholar Profiles, Tanta University achieved a total of 472,254 citations, compared to 424,255 citations in July, marking an increase of 47,999 citations. This progress has resulted in the university advancing 54 positions globally, ranking 858th among 6,300 universities worldwide, compared to 912th last July. The university also maintained its 7th position among 54 Egyptian universities, reflecting its significant achievements in scientific research.

Prof. Mohamed Hussein praised the efforts of the Graduate Studies and Research Sector, led by Prof. Hatem Amin, Vice President of the University for Graduate Studies and Research, in advancing the research system. He highlighted their encouragement of faculty members and researchers to produce applicable scientific research with economic, social, and environmental impact and to publish in prestigious scientific journals and periodicals. He affirmed that the university will continue its efforts to develop and improve education, scientific research, and community services to further advance its position in various international rankings.
