In the Presence of the Minister of Higher Education, the Secretary-General of the Supreme Council of Universities, and a Host of Egyptian University Presidents: Prof. Mohamed Hussein Participates in the Launch of the "National Policy for Sustainable Innovation"

Prof. Mohamed Hussein, Acting President of Tanta University, participated in the panel discussion marking the launch of the National Policy for Sustainable Innovation, as part of the events organized by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research. The event was attended by Prof. Mohamed Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, along with a host of university and research center presidents, ministry leaders, and representatives from the government, business, and industrial sectors.


According to a statement from the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Prof. Ayman Ashour emphasized that the launch of this policy aligns with one of the key principles of the National Strategy for Higher Education and Scientific Research, namely Innovation and Entrepreneurship, as well as the implementation of the presidential initiative Alliance and Development. He commended the efforts of the attendees, including representatives from academia, industry, business, and the government, who are key partners in executing this initiative. He expressed gratitude for their contributions at every stage of implementing the strategy and the Alliance and Development initiative, highlighting the tangible and successful outcomes achieved. Prof. Ashour reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to implementing this policy in collaboration with all partners to achieve sustainable development and enhance Egypt’s position in the fields of innovation and scientific research globally.


As part of implementing the National Policy for Sustainable Innovation, a high-level committee was formed, comprising representatives from various governmental, industrial, investment, academic, and research sectors. This committee worked on collecting and analyzing data and legislation related to innovation and scientific research, reviewing leading international and Arab experiences in this field, identifying strengths and weaknesses within the national innovation system, and drafting the National Policy for Sustainable Innovation document to ensure alignment with Egypt’s developmental goals.


The Minister outlined the strategic framework of the National Policy for Sustainable Innovation, which is driven by a vision to transform Egypt into a knowledge-based, innovative, and sustainable society. The mission of this policy is to leverage innovation to create value and enhance sustainability in both productive and service sectors, thereby contributing to improved quality of life and strengthening Egypt’s competitiveness regionally and globally.


The general framework of the policy aims to achieve several strategic directions, including: developing the higher education system, fostering research human resources, creating a conducive national business environment for innovation, enhancing the role of innovation in development, and integrating scientific research with industry and investment.
