The activities of the sixth edition of the International Conference on Advances in Structural and Geotechnical Engineering (ICASGE'25), organized by the Structural Engineering Department at the Faculty of Engineering, Tanta University, continue for the second consecutive day in Hurghada. The conference is held under the patronage of Prof. Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, and with the participation of a distinguished group of faculty members and researchers from Egyptian and international universities. The event spans four days.
Today features five keynote lectures:
The first, in the field of steel structures, will be delivered by Prof. Leroy Gardner, Professor of Engineering at Imperial College London and engineering consultant for several global companies, titled: "The Continuous Strength Method – Background and Codification."
The second, in the field of earthquake engineering, will be given by Prof. Ahmed Elghazouli, Professor of Structural Engineering in the UK and Hong Kong, and visiting professor in the USA, Belgium, and China, titled: "Seismic Design to the Second-Generation Eurocodes."
The third, in geotechnical engineering, will be presented by Prof. Kok-Kwang Phoon, President of the Singapore University of Technology and Design, titled: "Discovering Value in Small and Big Geodata."
The fourth lecture, focusing on sustainability in construction project management, will be delivered by Prof. Tarek Hegazy, Professor of Structural Engineering at the University of Waterloo in Canada, titled: "Emerging Trends for Sustainable Construction."
The fifth, in the field of reinforced concrete construction, will be presented by Prof. Ashraf Ashour, Professor of Structural Engineering at the University of Bradford and PhD holder from the University of Cambridge, titled: "Design of Reinforced Concrete Structures for Deconstruction – A Way Forward to Circular Construction."
Additionally, the second day of the conference will feature the discussion of 44 scientific research papers across various conference themes, addressing the latest scientific and practical developments in the fields of structural and geotechnical engineering, with participation from researchers representing various Egyptian and international universities.
