Prof. Mohamed Hussein, President of Tanta University, participated today in the regular meeting of the Supreme Council of Universities, chaired by Prof. Abdelaziz Konsowa, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research. The meeting was attended by Prof. Mostafa Refaat, Secretary of the Council, along with the Council's members, and was held at the Ministry's headquarters in the New Administrative Capital.
According to a statement issued by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, the Supreme Council of Universities extended its congratulations to His Excellency President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and the Egyptian people on the occasion of the 13th anniversary of the June 30 Revolution.
The Council also approved the formation of the Higher Coordination Committee for the 2026/2027 academic year. The Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research directed universities to strengthen their role in the National Initiative for Smart Green Projects and to intensify the implementation of comprehensive university development convoys across all governorates. He further emphasized the importance of continuing universities' efforts to rationalize energy consumption and maintaining the implementation of sports, cultural, artistic, and social activities throughout the summer recess.
The Minister also praised the inclusion of 29 Egyptian universities in the 2026/2027 U.S. News Global Rankings, the inclusion of 18 Egyptian universities in the 2027 edition of the QS World University Rankings, the listing of 60 Egyptian scientific journals in Clarivate's 2025 international journals report, and the inclusion of 45 Egyptian universities in the 2026 Times Higher Education Impact Rankings.
