Tanta University organizes a comprehensive development convoy in the village of Talbieh in Kafr El-Zayat Center as part of the presidential initiative “Decent Life”: Conducting 625 free medical examinations and organizing 7 instant literacy exam classes.

Within the framework of Tanta University's community role, and in implementation of the Egyptian state's directives to support sustainable development efforts and improve the quality of life in villages, as well as the vision of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Tanta University organized a comprehensive development convoy to the village of Talbia in Kafr El-Zayat Center, as part of the activities of the presidential initiative “Decent Life,” under the patronage of Prof. Mohamed Hussein, President of the University, and under the supervision and presence of Prof. Mahmoud Selim, Vice President of the University for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs, with the attendance of Dr. Sherine Farouk Hammad, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs, in cooperation with the executive authorities in Gharbia Governorate and a number of development partners.

The convoy witnessed the opening of 7 classes for instant exams in adult literacy, in cooperation with the General Authority for Adult Education – Gharbia Branch, within the framework of supporting the state's efforts to eradicate illiteracy and enhance lifelong learning opportunities.

The convoy also provided integrated medical services to the villagers through a group of faculty members and doctors from the Faculty of Medicine and Tanta University Hospitals. A total of 625 free medical examinations were conducted in a number of medical specialties, with free treatment being provided to citizens. In addition, cases requiring advanced interventions or accurate examinations were transferred to complete treatment at Tanta University Hospitals, ensuring continuity of health care and achieving the best level of medical service.

Prof. Mohamed Hussein stressed that the comprehensive development convoys represent one of the most important executive axes of the university in achieving its societal mission, noting that they embody the integration between education, scientific research, and community service. They also contribute directly to supporting the state's efforts to achieve the goals of the Presidential Initiative “Decent Life” and Egypt's Vision 2030.

Prof. Hussein added that the university adopts an integrated model for caravans based on providing health, education, awareness, and development services according to the actual needs of each village, in cooperation with development partners and executive bodies in Gharbia Governorate. This enhances the quality of life for citizens and consolidates the concept of the university as a national institution that produces knowledge and is capable of employing its scientific expertise to serve the community and achieve sustainable development.

The university president pointed out that the success of the development convoys reflects the efficiency of the institutional work system within the university and stresses the importance of effective partnerships with various state institutions to achieve the maximum benefit for citizens and maximize the development impact of community initiatives.

For his part, Prof. Mahmoud Selim explained that Tanta University continues to play its pioneering role in implementing the “Gharbia Without Illiteracy” initiative by expanding the organization of immediate examination classes and encouraging community participation in eradicating adult illiteracy, in cooperation with the General Authority for Adult Education, based on the university's belief that real investment begins with building the human being.

The Vice President of the University explained that the Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs Sector works according to an integrated strategic vision that is consistent with the axes of Tanta University's strategic plan, which places community service and sustainable development at the top of its priorities. It is also consistent with the goals of Egypt's Vision 2030, especially in the areas of improving the quality of life, improving health services, empowering citizens, promoting social justice, and building a knowledge society.

Prof. Selim added that development convoys are no longer limited to providing temporary services, but have become an integrated and sustainable model for local development, combining health care, literacy, community awareness, and building partnerships with state institutions and civil society in order to achieve a sustainable development impact in various villages and centers of Gharbia Governorate.
