Prof. Muhammad Hussein: Building the awareness of our students and protecting them from rumors and extremist ideas is an integral part of the university's mission

President of Tanta University to students: My office door is always open to you. Direct dialogue is the way to build trust and correct concepts

    Prof. Mohamed Hussein, President of Tanta University, witnessed the conclusion of the student activities season at the university camp in Baltim City, in the presence of Prof. El-Sayed El-Ajouz, Vice President of the University for Education and Student Affairs, Prof. Hala Nada, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Arts for Education and Student Affairs, Prof. Attia Marei, Professor at the Faculty of Arts, Prof. Mohamed El-Qaseer, Director General of the General Administration of Student Care at the university, and a number of students participating in the camp activities.

    During the closing ceremony, the University President was keen to hold an open dialogue seminar with the students, during which he listened to their questions and inquiries and interacted with them directly on various topics related to the educational process, academic and service aspects, and student activities, stressing that continuous communication with students represents one of the most important pillars of university administration, and contributes to directly identifying their needs and aspirations and working to respond to them.

    Issues of developing national awareness and building an aware national character occupied a major aspect of the dialogue, as Prof. Mohamed Hussein reviewed the nature of the challenges and rapid changes witnessed by the region and the world and their repercussions on the Egyptian state, stressing that the current stage requires young people to have a great deal of awareness, vigilance and the ability to verify information, and not to be led by rumors or unverified news that aim to stir up confusion or distort the facts.

    The university president stressed the importance of students relying on official and reliable sources of information, and resorting to experienced and trustworthy people when there are any inquiries or questions, with the necessity of rejecting extremist ideas and attempts at polarization, and establishing a culture of dialogue, acceptance of others, belonging and societal responsibility, explaining that building the student's awareness is no less important than building him scientifically and professionally.

    Prof. Muhammad Hussein said that our responsibility at the university is not limited to graduating a student who possesses knowledge and specialization only, but rather extends to building a personality that is aware and conscious of what is going on around it, capable of distinguishing between truth and rumor, aware of the extent of the challenges facing its country and dealing with them with a conscious mind and enlightened thought.

    The University President emphasized that his office is always open to all students, not only regarding academic or service affairs, but also for any questions or inquiries that occupy their minds regarding what is happening at the national or regional level. The student has the right to ask questions, and we must listen to him and explain the facts to him from reliable sources, because continuous dialogue is one of the most important tools for building awareness and trust. 

    Prof. Mohammed Hussein stressed that universities bear a great national responsibility in confronting rumors and correcting misconceptions, by providing safe spaces for dialogue and interaction, developing students' critical thinking skills, and enhancing their ability to analyze and verify information before it is circulated, pointing out that national awareness represents the first line of defense for society in confronting attempts at misinformation and intellectual polarization.

    During the meeting, the University President reviewed the system of services provided by Tanta University to its students, which includes skills development and capacity building programs, support for innovation and entrepreneurship, professional development and preparation for the labor market, in addition to cultural, sports, social and artistic activities, and catering and housing services in university cities, as well as psychological and social support services provided to students.

    For his part, Prof. Al-Sayed Al-Ajouz, Vice President for Education and Student Affairs, stressed that the university's student activities season aimed to provide diverse spaces for students to discover their abilities, develop their talents, and enhance teamwork, leadership, and communication skills, noting that the university views student activities as an essential extension of the educational process and an effective tool for building the student's integrated personality.

    He explained that Tanta University camp in Baltim represents one of the important platforms that combines cultural, social, sports and dialogue activities, and provides students with the opportunity to communicate directly with university leaders in a positive atmosphere that contributes to enhancing the spirit of belonging and building bridges of trust and communication.
