Prof. Zaki: Achievements in international rankings reflect the significant progress made by the university in the field of scientific research.

Prof. Mahmoud Zaki, Tanta University President, announced the notable progress of the university in the number of research citations according to the Webometrics ranking for July 2024. The university has managed to appear among the top 10 universities in terms of citation metrics among approximately 50 Egyptian universities according to the Google Scholar platform.

Prof. Mahmoud Zaki explained that the advancement in the ranking reflects the university's continuous efforts in developing the scientific research system and focusing on international publication by providing a supportive environment for researchers and academics. This encourages them to produce distinguished scientific research and publish in high-impact international journals, in line with the university's strategic plan aimed at developing scientific research, supporting the national strategy for higher education and scientific research, the state's strategic plan, and Egypt's Vision 2030.

The university president added that according to the latest release (version 18.0.0) of the TRANSPARENT RANKING: Top Universities by Citations in Top Google Scholar profiles, Tanta University achieved a total of 424,255 citations compared to 398,792 citations in the January 2024 release. This maintains its local ranking at 7th among 51 Egyptian universities and 862nd globally out of approximately 6,000 universities that have more than 1,000 research citations. This reflects the significant progress made in the field of scientific research. This ranking is based on the total number of citations collected from the top 310 personal profiles for each university according to the Google Scholar platform.
