Prof. Mohamed Hussein, Acting President of Tanta University, attended signing the cooperation protocols for the third phase of establishing seven service centers for students with disabilities at seven public universities, in collaboration with AMIDEAST. The seven centers will be established at the universities of Minia, Benha, Matrouh, Menoufia, Port Said, Aswan, and Kafr El-Sheikh. The signing ceremony was attended by Prof. Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, a group of university presidents, Ms. Marisol Perez, Director of the Office of Education and Partnerships at USAID, Mr. Concy Dermody, Director of the U.S. Government Scholarship Program at USAID, Mr. Ben Seitz, Disability Affairs Advisor at the U.S. Embassy, and Prof. Sherin Yehia, Advisor to the Minister of Higher Education for Students with Disabilities.

     According to a statement released by Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, the cooperation protocols aim to supervise the implementation of the project to establish service centers for students with disabilities, follow up the delivery of center activities at the universities, fund the training activities through specialists, consultants, and qualified trainers, and provide training to staff at these centers on management techniques and interacting with students with disabilities. Additionally, the protocols aim to develop the centers’ mission, vision, and values, conduct assessment of needs, formulate action plans, secure funding, and deliver various services and activities.

    It is worth noting that Tanta University signed a cooperation protocol for establishing its Service Center for Student with Disabilities at the end of 2022 as part of the project's second phase. The center was officially inaugurated at the end of last month.
