The Tanta University Council convened today for its March session under the chairmanship of Prof. Mohamed Hussein, Acting President of Tanta University, with the presence of Major General Ashraf El-Gendy, Governor of Gharbia, Prof. Fouad Heras, former President of Tanta University, Prof. Abdel Hakim Abdel Khaleq, former President of Tanta University, Prof. Hatem Amin, Vice President for Postgraduate Studies and Research, along with faculty deans and the university’s secretary-general.
During his speech, Major General Ashraf El-Gendy extended his congratulations to the council members and all university affiliates on the upcoming occasion of Eid Al-Fitr. He emphasized Gharbia Governorate’s preparations for the celebrations across all cities and districts, expressing his gratitude to the university administration, faculty members, and staff for their dedicated efforts. He highlighted the importance of collaboration between the university and the governorate in contributing to local community development and strengthening the link between education and the surrounding environment.
Prof. Mohamed Hussein welcomed the Governor of Gharbia, affirming the deep historical relationship between the university and the governorate. He extended his greetings to all university members on the occasion of Eid Al-Fitr and praised the student activities conducted during Ramadan, which included cultural, social, and sports events with significant student participation.
He also emphasized that the Tanta National University project was developed based on thorough and specialized studies of the current and future needs of the local and international labor markets. He stated that academic curricula would be designed in partnership with industrial sectors to create economic backing and provide students with training and employment opportunities. Additionally, he mentioned that the university is currently exploring opportunities to establish branches of prestigious international universities in collaboration with Tanta University, supporting the principles of internationalization as a key element of the national strategy for higher education and scientific research.
Prof. Mohamed Hussein commended the efforts of all university sectors, centers, and units in enhancing students’ knowledge and skills. He urged faculty deans to foster students' innovation through educational processes and extracurricular activities in line with national policies for sustainable innovation. He highlighted that the university’s career development centers are fully operational, offering skill-enhancing services to students with all necessary resources in place. These centers’ performance is monitored through periodic reports reviewed monthly to ensure continuous improvement and quality service delivery.
