Tanta University Makes Significant Progress in the 2025 Round University Ranking (RUR)

Prof. Mohamed Hussein, Tanta University President, announced that the university has achieved notable progress in the 2025 Round University Ranking (RUR), advancing 6 positions globally compared to the previous year. Tanta University ranked 885th worldwide out of 1,237 participating universities, and 9th nationally among 28 Egyptian universities.


This advancement reflects the university’s ongoing efforts to elevate the quality of its educational and research systems.


According to the ranking results, Tanta University demonstrated substantial improvement across several key indicators:


Teaching: Advanced 61 places globally, ranking 732nd worldwide and 6th nationally


Research: Maintained a strong position, ranked 833rd globally and 11th nationally


International Diversity: Rose 10 places, ranking 857th globally and 18th nationally


Financial Sustainability: Ranked 1161st globally and 25th nationally


Prof. Mohamed Hussein expressed his pride in this achievement, which he described as a reflection of the dedication and perseverance of the entire Tanta University community—including faculty, researchers, administrative staff, and students. He emphasized that this progress in the RUR international ranking reinforces the university’s firm commitment to delivering high-quality education and conducting impactful scientific research that serves society.


He added that reaching 885th globally, along with a significant leap in the teaching category and maintaining a strong position in research, confirms the university’s serious efforts toward realizing its vision of becoming a leading institution regionally and internationally. He also reaffirmed the university’s commitment to fostering a culture of innovation, strengthening international partnerships, and achieving financial sustainability to secure a promising future for the university and its graduates.


It is worth noting that the Round University Ranking (RUR) evaluates the performance of 1,200 leading universities from 85 countries since 2010. The ranking uses 20 indicators grouped into four key areas:


Teaching (40%)


Research (40%)


International Diversity (10%)


Financial Sustainability (10%)
