Tanta University announced today a major achievement in the 2025-2026 US News Global University Rankings, placing 493rd globally—a leap of 103 spots from the previous year—solidifying its position among the top 500 universities in the world. The university also advanced to 16th place in Africa (up five places) and 8th among Egyptian universities (up two positions), marking an unprecedented rise across all levels.
Prof. Mohamed Hussein, Tanta University President, praised this milestone, stating:
“Our remarkable progress in international rankings reflects our unwavering commitment to the principles of Egypt’s National Strategy for Higher Education and Scientific Research. This achievement is a testament to the efforts of our academic staff, researchers, and students, and to the university’s dedication to international academic standards.”
He emphasized that the university appeared in 12 academic subjects this year—compared to 11 last year—demonstrating the breadth and impact of its research. Notably, for the first time, Tanta University was ranked in Computer Science, debuting at 795 globally.
