Tanta University Among Top 200 Globally in “Affordable and Clean Energy” Continues Strong Performance in Times Higher Education Impact Rankings 2025

Tanta University has once again demonstrated its growing international influence and social impact by maintaining its presence in the 601–800 global band out of 2,526 universities featured in the Times Higher Education (THE) Impact Rankings 2025. Nationally, the university ranked in the fifth tier among 51 Egyptian institutions included in this prestigious ranking.


Prof. Mohamed Hussein,Tanta University President , announced the results, highlighting the university's remarkable achievement in SDG 7: Affordable and Clean Energy, where it was ranked among the top 101–200 universities worldwide. This ranking reflects the university’s commitment to advancing clean, sustainable energy solutions and supporting the global energy transition.


The university also maintained strong positions in other sustainable development goals:


SDG 9: Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure — Ranked 301–400


SDG 16: Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions — Ranked 201–300


SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals — Ranked 601–800


Tanta University advanced in two additional SDGs:


SDG 2: Zero Hunger — Improved to 201–300 (from 301–400 last year)


SDG 6: Clean Water and Sanitation — Rose to 301–400 (from 401–600)


Prof. Hussein emphasized:


“These results reflect the university’s tangible contributions to solving real-world challenges and creating a positive societal impact. Our improvements in SDG 2 and SDG 6 show our dedication to translating knowledge into practical solutions that serve our communities and support sustainable development locally and globally.”


Prof. Mahmoud Selim, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development, added that the university has launched numerous health and awareness initiatives in underserved villages and rural areas. These efforts have improved public health indicators and strengthened partnerships with government and non-government entities. He noted that the university continues to expand environmental awareness programs and promote sustainable practices on and off campus—core metrics in the THE Impact Rankings.
