Today, Prof. Mohamed Hussein, President of Tanta University, inaugurated the Tenth International Conference of the Faculty of Commerce, held under the title: “Artificial Intelligence in the Business Environment: Challenges and Opportunities.” The conference is organized under the patronage of Prof. Abdel Aziz Konsowa, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, and attended by Prof. Hatem Amin, Vice President for Graduate Studies and Research; Prof. Abbas El-Hefnawy, former President of Menoufia University; Prof. Yasser El-Garf, Dean of the Faculty and Conference Chair; Prof. Nancy El-Hefnawy, Acting Dean of the Faculty of Computers and Information at Tanta University; Prof. Dina Abdel Hady, Vice Dean for Graduate Studies and Research and Conference Co-Chair; Prof. Tarek Radwan, Vice Dean for Education and Students Affairs; Prof. Ibrahim Obeid, Vice Dean for Community Service and Environmental Development and Conference Rapporteur; along with a number of faculty members and researchers from various Egyptian universities.

At the outset of his speech, Prof. Mohamed Hussein affirmed that the conference represents both a conscious response and a practical implementation of the directives of His Excellency President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, who has placed the issue of “digitally building the Egyptian citizen” and the localization of artificial intelligence technologies at the top of the state’s priorities. He expressed his great pleasure in participating in this distinguished scientific gathering, which responds to the demands of an era that recognizes only innovation and accepts only digital excellence as a standard for leadership. He added that Tanta University is committed to translating this visionary leadership into tangible reality by preparing a generation of innovators and researchers capable of harnessing artificial intelligence algorithms to serve productive sectors and achieve a qualitative leap in the efficiency of Egypt’s business environment, in alignment with the vision of the “New Republic.”

The University President further explained that Tanta University’s vision extends beyond merely teaching these technologies; it seeks to serve as a secure bridge through which scientific research is transformed into intelligent solutions that support the industrial, commercial, and service sectors. He highlighted the university’s substantial progress in upgrading its digital infrastructure and supporting interdisciplinary research that merges computer science with the business environment, aiming to graduate cadres who not only utilize technology but also contribute to its development and leadership in support of the state’s sustainable development vision (Egypt Vision 2030).

He extended his sincere gratitude to all those who contributed their efforts and ideas to the success of this distinguished scientific event, as well as to the university’s partners from the industrial and business sectors and the experts who traveled to share their knowledge and expertise. He emphasized that the success of this conference reflects the strength of teamwork within Tanta University and stands as clear evidence that the institution is moving confidently toward the model of fourth-generation universities.

For his part, Prof. Hatem Amin noted that the conference is being held at a critically important time, as the world is witnessing rapid advancements in artificial intelligence technologies and their growing impact across various business sectors. These developments contribute to improving institutional performance efficiency, supporting decision-making processes, and enhancing organizational competitiveness. He added that Tanta University is consistently committed to supporting applied scientific research, fostering innovation, and adopting modern technologies that contribute to sustainable development by providing a stimulating academic environment that brings together researchers, experts, and specialists for the exchange of knowledge and perspectives. He stressed that artificial intelligence is no longer a luxury or a deferred option, but an inevitable necessity imposed on institutions seeking survival and growth in a highly competitive world.

The Vice President added that the conference underscores Tanta University’s pioneering role in keeping pace with global transformations, as well as its continuous commitment to supporting applied scientific research and linking academic knowledge with practical needs. He described the conference as a genuine platform for the convergence of ideas, the establishment of effective partnerships, and the formulation of forward-looking visions capable of leveraging artificial intelligence to serve economic development and achieve institutional excellence. He also commended the distinguished efforts of the Faculty of Commerce in organizing the conference, reflecting its leadership in keeping up with global developments and aligning research outputs with labor market requirements.

In the same context, Prof. Yasser El-Garf emphasized that artificial intelligence is no longer merely a technological option, but has become the “language of the era " that defines the parameters of survival in the equation of the future. He explained that the conference aims to reinforce the faculty’s vision of not merely keeping pace with change, but actively shaping it. He reviewed the profound transformations imposed by artificial intelligence across fields such as accounting, finance, marketing, and human resource management, where systems are evolving from mere executive tools into precise predictive engines driven by data rather than intuition.

The Dean stressed that the real challenge lies in the “wisdom of application,” not merely in possessing technology, noting that the human element will remain the leader and driving force behind this system.

He concluded by affirming the faculty’s philosophy of investing in minds to prepare leaders capable of pioneering a future labor market that has yet to fully take shape, emphasizing that the future is not to be awaited, but to be created—and that today, they are seizing the opportunity to become an integral part of that future.
