Prof. Mohamed Hussein, President of Tanta University, inaugurated today the 14th International Scientific Conference of the Faculty of Nursing at Tanta University, as well as its 7th virtual edition, under the title “Innovation in Nursing Care in Light of Rapid Digital Transformations.” The conference is held under the patronage of Prof. Abdel Aziz Konsowa, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research.
The event was attended by Prof. Hatem Amin, Vice President of the University for Graduate Studies and Research; Prof. Afaf Basal, Dean of the Faculty of Nursing; Prof. Mona Al-Aasar, Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy; Prof. Sahar El-Khodr, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Nursing for Graduate Studies and Research; Prof. Kawthar Mahmoud, President of the General Nursing Syndicate and Head of the Gharbia Nursing Syndicate; in addition to a distinguished group of deans, vice deans, and faculty members from various nursing faculties at the Universities of Mansoura, Menoufia, Benha, Kafr El-Sheikh, Delta University for Science and Technology, Sadat City, Beni Suef, Rashid, and Al-Reyada. Numerous specialized faculty members from Arab and foreign countries also participated virtually, alongside the Military Hospital in Tanta.
In his speech, Prof. Mohamed Hussein expressed his pleasure at the launch of the conference, noting that it is being held at an “exceptional time.” He emphasized that technology is no longer merely a complementary option but has become the primary driver and backbone for improving the quality of healthcare and advancing medical services. He further stressed that the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, under the leadership of Prof. Abdel Aziz Konsowa, places strong emphasis on supporting and sponsoring scientific conferences, recognizing their fundamental role in enhancing the quality and outcomes of scientific research, providing interactive platforms for international knowledge exchange, and keeping pace with technological advancements in the healthcare sector.
He reaffirmed the university’s full support for the Faculty of Nursing, praising its long-standing history, distinguished academic and research standing, and its continuous role in supplying the healthcare sector with highly qualified professionals in accordance with the highest standards.
The University President added that the conference theme, “Innovation in Nursing Care in Light of Rapid Digital Transformations,” reflects Tanta University’s belief that “human development,” as advocated by the political leadership, begins with providing smart, safe, and advanced healthcare. He noted that the conference addresses core contemporary challenges, including quality of care and patient safety, and how digital transformation can reduce human error and ensure high precision in care delivery. He also highlighted evidence-based nursing, now increasingly supported by artificial intelligence algorithms, which enhance predictive capabilities and contribute to saving lives.
He called on participants to capitalize on this scientific gathering to produce actionable recommendations that transform digitalization from mere “technical tools” into a “culture of practice.” He concluded by expressing sincere appreciation to the Faculty of Nursing administration, the organizing committee, and the university and faculty IT teams for their outstanding efforts in integrating both in-person and virtual participation.
Prof. Hatem Amin stated that the conference title serves as a roadmap dictated by contemporary demands, patients’ needs, and societal aspirations for a safer and more efficient healthcare system. He emphasized that digital transformation has become the cornerstone of development in all healthcare institutions. He further noted that developing nursing personnel today requires building a new generation proficient in technology, data analytics, and health information systems, while also possessing strong communication, leadership, and critical thinking skills.
The Vice President added that the conference themes reflect a firm belief that innovation in nursing care is not measured by the quantity of devices acquired, but by the effective utilization of these tools to achieve the highest levels of quality and safety, and to empower nursing staff to perform their noble duties with greater efficiency and humanity.
For her part, Prof. Afaf Basal began her speech by expressing her deepest gratitude and appreciation to Prof. Mohamed Hussein, President of the University, commending his unlimited support and generous patronage, which constituted the cornerstone of the success of this major scientific event. She also welcomed the esteemed attendees, including deans, researchers, and experts from various faculties within the university as well as Egyptian and international universities.
She stressed the necessity of adapting to the rapid transformations imposed by the digital revolution and innovation, affirming that integrating modern technologies into nursing practice is the only way to improve the quality of healthcare services provided to citizens. She explained that this conference represents a leading scientific platform aimed at exchanging academic expertise, discussing current challenges facing the nursing profession in Egypt, and developing innovative solutions to enhance its global standing.
She concluded her speech by extending thanks and appreciation to all those who contributed sincerely to the preparation and organization of the conference, emphasizing that collective efforts are what bring forth work worthy of the name and legacy of Tanta University and the Faculty of Nursing.
