In Cooperation with the Academy of Scientific Research and Technology, Child University Program at Tanta University Continues Its Activities at the Faculty of Medicine to Promote Health Awareness and Medical Skills Among Children

   As part of the activities of the Child University Program, and under the patronage of Prof. Mohamed Hussein, Tanta University President, and the supervision of Prof. Mahmoud Farouk Selim, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development, the Faculty of Medicine at Tanta University welcomed students from stages nine and ten – Level (E1), as part of a training program designed to develop children's intellectual and creative abilities, introduce them to the healthcare field and its applications, and connect them with the university environment through an integrated educational and hands-on learning experience.

   The activities began with welcoming the children and their parents under the supervision of Prof. Mohamed Hantira, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine; Prof. Loay El-Ahwal, Vice Dean for Community Service and Environmental Development; Prof. Mohamed Gaber, Vice Dean for Education and Student Affairs; Prof. Samir Zaki Qamh, Coordinator of the Child University Program at Tanta University; and Prof. Mona Kotait, Program Coordinator at the Faculty of Medicine, in addition to a number of faculty members and teaching assistants. Students from the Faculty Student Union also participated in organizing the event.

   The children started their day with an introductory lecture on the mission of the Faculty of Medicine, its various departments, the nature of medical education, and its role in preparing qualified healthcare professionals and serving the healthcare sector. They were also introduced to the diverse career opportunities available in the medical profession, deepening their understanding of one of the university's most important academic disciplines and its role in serving society.

   The program also included a series of practical activities in the Department of Physiology, where the children learned about the vital functions of the human body through simplified explanations. They also received hands-on training in using several medical devices, including blood pressure monitors, visual acuity testing equipment, and electrocardiogram (ECG) machines. They observed a demonstration of blood component separation and tested neurological reflexes using a reflex hammer, gaining practical experience by performing these activities themselves under the supervision of faculty members.

   The visit also included the Department of Medical Parasitology, where the children learned about the most common insect-borne diseases and methods of prevention. They viewed educational models and images of various parasites before participating in creating models of the Giardia intestinalis parasite using modeling clay, combining scientific learning with practical application.

   The scientific program concluded with a visit to the Department of Anatomy and the Pathology Museum, where the children explored one of the faculty's most important educational museums, which houses an extensive collection of preserved anatomical and pathological specimens for teaching and scientific research. They also listened to a simplified explanation of the importance of these specimens in studying diseases and supporting medical diagnosis, enriching their knowledge and introducing them to one of the fundamental aspects of medical education.
