Tanta University’s Child University Program Continues Its Activities at the Faculty of Nursing to Develop Children’s First Aid Skills
In cooperation with the Academy of Scientific Research and Technology, Tanta University’s Child University Program continues its activities at the Faculty of Nursing to develop children’s first aid skills.
As part of the activities of the Child University Program, under the auspices of Prof. Mohamed Hussein, Tanta University President, and under the supervision of Prof. Mahmoud Farouk Selim, Vice President of Tanta University for Community Service and Environmental Development, the Faculty of Nursing, Tanta University, received students of the seventh phase, Level E2, on Saturday, August 8, 2026. This was part of a training program aimed at developing children’s skills in health and nursing, introducing them to the basics of first aid and how to respond to emergency situations through an integrated educational and practical experience.
The activities included welcoming the children and their parents in the presence of Prof. Afaf Abdel Aziz Basal, Dean of the Faculty of Nursing; Prof. Sabah Sharshour, Head of the Department of Pediatrics; Prof. Samir Zaki Qamh, Coordinator of the Child University Program at Tanta University; and Prof. Nahla Said Mahmoud, Coordinator of the Child University Program at the Faculty of Nursing, along with a number of faculty members and assistant staff.
The children began their day with an introductory lecture on the Faculty of Nursing, its various departments, the study there, and the diverse career opportunities available to its graduates. The lecture also highlighted the importance of the nursing profession and its pivotal role as one of the essential components of the healthcare system.
The activities included a range of training activities and practical applications. The children began by visiting the Pediatric Nursing Laboratory, where they received practical training on how to respond to choking cases, in addition to training in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) for both children and adults. The children then moved to the Medical Surgical Nursing Department, where they participated in practical training in the laboratories of Fundamentals of Nursing and Skills.
During his inspection tour, Prof. Mahmoud Farouk Selim, Vice President of Tanta University for Community Service and Environmental Development, followed up on the activities and events to ensure that they were conducted in accordance with the training program and to assess the children’s level of participation and understanding of the skills they had been trained in.
Prof. Mahmoud Selim affirmed that the Child University Program is one of the most important national initiatives contributing to the development of Egyptian children’s personalities by providing a university environment that encourages learning, discovery, and creativity, while developing scientific thinking, innovation, and entrepreneurship skills from an early age.
He added that Tanta University is keen to provide an integrated educational and practical experience across its various faculties, enabling children to gain firsthand exposure to university disciplines and acquire practical experience that contributes to developing their abilities and connecting theoretical knowledge with practical application, in line with the objectives of the presidential Human Development Initiative and Egypt’s Vision 2030.
