In Cooperation with the Academy of Scientific Research and Technology (ASRT), Tanta University’s Child University Program Organizes a Diverse Training Day at the Faculties of Agriculture, Medicine, and Science
As part of the activities of the Child University Program, and under the patronage of Prof. Mohamed Hussein, Tanta University President, and under the supervision of Prof. Mahmoud Farouk Selim, Tanta University Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development, Tanta University organized a diverse training day during which the Faculties of Agriculture, Medicine, and Science hosted students from the sixth and eighth stages. The activities aimed to develop the children’s intellectual and creative skills, introduce them to various university disciplines, and link knowledge to practical application in a stimulating university environment that encourages learning and discovery.
The activities held on Sunday, August 16, 2026, included the Faculty of Agriculture hosting eighth-stage students, Level (E1), while the Faculties of Medicine and Science hosted sixth-stage students, Level (F1), in the Medical and Energy & Environment tracks. The training day brought together topics spanning agricultural, medical, and environmental sciences.
As part of his commitment to on-site follow-up of the Child University Program activities, Prof. Mahmoud Farouk Selim conducted an inspection tour of the three faculties, checking on the progress of the training and ensuring that the activities were being implemented according to the scheduled program. He also listened to the children’s feedback and assessed their understanding of the topics presented to them. He expressed his pleasure for the children’s ability to grasp specialized scientific topics at such an early age, affirming the importance of caring about this generation as the generation of the future, encouraging them to learn and explore, and developing their scientific skills.
At the Faculty of Agriculture, the students were welcomed by Prof. Essawy Qassem, Faculty Dean; Prof. Adel Helal, Vice Dean for Community Service and Environmental Development; Prof. Samir Zaki Qamh, Coordinator of the Child University Program at Tanta University; Dr. Mai Amer, the faculty’s Program Coordinator; and several faculty members.
The activities included learning about the food web and energy pyramid through a series of applications and exercises, as well as explaining the difference between weather and climate. The students concluded the program with tours of the greenhouse, the Central Laboratory for Soil and Plant Analysis, and the Tissue Culture Laboratory, where they were introduced to practical applications in various agricultural fields.
At the Faculty of Medicine, the students were welcomed by Prof. Mohamed Hantira, Faculty Dean; Prof. Mohamed Gaber, Vice Dean for Education and Student Affairs and Supervisor of the faculty’s Vice Deanship for Community Service and Environmental Development; Dr. Mona Qotait, the faculty’s Child University Coordinator; and several faculty members.
The training program for students in the Medical Track introduced them to the muscular system, the different types of muscles, their functions, and their relationship to nerve signals. They also learned about the skeletal system through hands-on training using an anatomical model. The activities concluded with an introduction to how a robotic hand works, sparking the children’s interest and enthusiasm to learn more about the human body and applications of medical technology.
At the Faculty of Science, the children and their parents were welcomed under the supervision of Prof. Abeer Alam Al-Din, Faculty Dean, in the presence of Prof. Zenhom El-Said, Vice Dean for Community Service and Environmental Development; Prof. Samir Zaki Qamh, Coordinator of the Child University Program at Tanta University; Dr. Eman Bakr, the faculty’s Program Coordinator; and several faculty members.
Students in the Energy & Environment Track learned about fossil fuels and their sources, the stages of their formation and exploration, and their importance to the development of modern life. They also explored the environmental challenges associated with fossil fuels and the global shift toward clean and alternative energy sources.
This diverse training day reflects Tanta University’s commitment to expanding the scope of the Child University experience and providing children with a wide range of educational and practical opportunities across its faculties. These activities help children to discover their scientific interests and abilities at an early age while connecting theoretical knowledge with practical application.
The day concluded in a joyful and engaging atmosphere, with children and their parents expressing their appreciation for the organization and variety of activities. They emphasized that the program provided them with a rich educational experience combining knowledge, practical application, and creativity, underscoring Tanta University’s leading community role in human development and nurturing talented young people.
