Tanta University’s Child University Program Continues Its Activities at the Faculty of Dentistry in an Educational Experience Introducing Children to Dentistry and Its Modern Scientific and Technological Applications

In cooperation with the Academy of Scientific Research and Technology (ASRT), Tanta University’s Child University Program continued its activities at the Faculty of Dentistry, Tanta University, through an educational and practical experience aimed at introducing children to the field of dentistry and its modern scientific and technological applications.

   As part of the implementation of the Child University Program’s activities, under the patronage of Prof. Mohamed Hussein Mahmoud, Tanta University President, and under the supervision of Prof. Mahmoud Farouk Selim, Tanta University Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development, the Faculty of Dentistry, Tanta University, welcomed students participating in the sixth phase of the Child University Program. The educational and practical experience aimed to familiarize students with dental education and its various specialties, while linking academic knowledge with modern practical and technological applications.

   The activities were attended by 34 male and female students aged 15 to 17, in the presence of Prof. Mahmoud Farouk Selim, Tanta University Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development; Prof. Yasser Mohamed El-Makaky, Acting Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry and Vice Dean for Community Service and Environmental Development; Prof. Samir Zaki Qamh, Coordinator of the Child University Program at Tanta University; and Prof. Eman Nasr, Coordinator of the Child University Program at the Faculty of Dentistry, along with a number of faculty members.

   During his inspection tour, Prof. Mahmoud Farouk Selim followed up on the students and checked on the extent to which they benefited from the activities provided, as well as their interaction with the educational experience at the faculty. He affirmed the importance of providing children with opportunities to gain first-hand exposure to various university disciplines and to discover their scientific and professional interests at an early age.

  The program included an introductory tour of the teaching hospital’s dental clinics at the Faculty of Dentistry. During the tour, students learned about the clinical work and the therapeutic services provided, as well as how dentists handle different cases, giving them a practical insight into the working environment within the faculty and the dental profession.

   The activities also included a visit to the Digital Dental Lab, where students were introduced to the applications of modern technology in dentistry and the stages of digital design and manufacturing. This demonstrated to them the significant advances taking place in the profession and the role of digital technologies in shaping the future of dentistry.

   The activities concluded in an atmosphere of enthusiasm and happiness, with the students expressing great interest in what they had seen in the dental clinics and the Digital Dental Lab. The experience underscores Tanta University’s community role in human development, fostering children’s passion for learning, and identifying and nurturing talented young people.
