In Enhancement of the Presidential Initiative “Decent Life”, Tanta University Organizes 1201 Comprehensive Developmental Convoys over 3 Years Serving 900 Thousand Citizens

The university launches a comprehensive developmental convoy in El-Beheira Governorate in cooperation with 4 universities.

  Tanta University organized yesterday a comprehensive developmental convoy in Shabor village located in Kom Hamada province in El-Beheira Governorate under patronage of Prof. Mohamed Ayman Ashor, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, with participation of Menoufia University, Kafr El-Sheikh University, and Sadat City University in collaboration with executive bodies in El-Beheira Governorate.

   Prof. Mahmoud Zaki declared that the convoy was held in the context of the constant efforts exerted by the university to enhance the presidential initiative “Decent Life”. He indicated that the university could organize 1201 convoys over the last three years serving more than 900 thousand Egyptian citizens in the neediest villages of Gharbia Governorate and in border governorates. He affirmed that the convoys offered medical, outreach and veterinary services as well as discovering the talented and giving assistance.

   University President added that the strategic plan of Tanta University aims primarily to enhance the presidential initiatives through its sectors and faculties, to achieve cooperation and integration between universities and institutions that offer social services in Delta Universities Alliance, to reach the optimum use of academic, human and scientific capabilities of the university to meet all developmental needs in community, to make the most of the resources, and to encourage industrial localization in Delta region.

   For his part, Prof. Mahmoud Selim, University Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development, commended the support given by Prof. Mahmoud Zaki to all activities of Community Service and Environmental Development Sector. He asserted that organizing these activities is based on accurate study of real needs and available capabilities of the participating universities to maximize the benefit from each university’s strengths and distinctive features so that the best services can be offered to citizens in the villages in addition to financial, human, and technical support.

   It is worth noting that the convoy organized by Tanta University offered medical care services to 790 patients in 13 clinics as follows: 86 patients were examined in neurosurgery, 75 in pediatrics, 72 in orthopedic surgery, 85 in dermatology, 91 in internal medicine, 31 in urology, 87 in ENT, 21 in general surgery, 51 in the chest clinic, 13 in psychiatry and neurology, 114 in ophthalmology and 39 in cardiovascular surgery. Moreover, 830 revision books were distributed to students of the General Secondary. A veterinary convoy was held in collaboration with Veterinary Medicine Directorate in El-Beheira Governorate where more than 1375 head of cattle and birds received veterinary services.

   The convoy was held in attendance of Prof. Mahmoud Selim, University Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development; Prof. Amany Shaker, Vice President of Kafr El-Sheikh University for Community Service and Environmental Development; Prof. Taha Ismael, Dean of Faculty of Medicine at Kafr El-Sheikh University; Prof. Mohamed El Shebini, Vice Dean of Faculty of Medicine at Tanta University for Community Service and Environmental Development; Prof. Sahar El-Haggar, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy at Tanta University for Community Service and Environmental Development; Prof. Wael El-Feqi, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Medicine at Kafr El-Sheikh University for Community Service and Environmental Development; Prof. Nehal Atef, Acting Dean of Faculty of Science at Tanta University; Prof. Osama El Agami, Professor of Pediatrics at Faculty of Medicine, Kafr El-Sheikh University; Prof. Iman Shokr, Coordinator of Menoufia University for Delta Universities Alliance; and Prof. Mostafa Al-Ansary, Professor at the Institute of Genetic Engineering, Sadat City University.
