Tanta District Hosts the Advanced Developmental Convoy of Tanta University

Under the Presidential Initiative "A New Beginning for Human Development", Tanta District Hosts the Advanced Development Convoy of Tanta University.

    Tanta University has continued its comprehensive developmental convoys as part of its community service activities under the presidential initiative, "A New Beginning for Human Development". The latest convoy was held in Kafr Essam Village, Tanta District, under the supervision of Prof. Mohamed Hussein, Acting President of Tanta University, and in the attendance of Prof. Mahmoud Selim, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development; Prof. Sahar Al-Haggar, Vice Dean of Faculty of Pharmacy for Community Service and Environmental Development; Prof. Loay Al-Ahwal, Acting Vice Dean of Faculty of Medicine for Community Service and Environmental Development; Prof. Hagar Alam Eldin, Executive Manager of the Main Center for the Special Economic Centers and Units; and Prof. Amal Abdel Sattar, Executive Manager of the Main Center for Public Community Services.

    Prof. Mahmoud Selim affirmed that the Community Service and Environmental Development Sector is moving steadily forward in full coordination with the executive authorities of Gharbia governorate to achieve the goals of the national strategy for higher education and scientific research. This strategy includes offering unique community services through Tanta University’s material and human resources to improve citizens’ living conditions. The approach aims to invest in knowledge from a modern perspective while engaging all the governorate's population through training, awareness campaigns, and economic empowerment initiatives.

   The convoy featured various activities such as registering 40 citizens in “Sanaiyat Misr” (Egypt’s Artisans) initiative for vocational training programs in leather goods manufacturing, woodwork, soap and detergent production, and ready-made garment industries.

   Medical examination was conducted, at the convoy, for 840 individuals in 14 clinics such as neurosurgery, pediatrics, orthopedics, dermatology, internal medicine, urology, ENT, general surgery, pulmonology, psychiatry, ophthalmology, cardiology, gynecology and the clinic of health initiatives. Free medicaments were distributed to all cases, and 57 cases were referred to Tanta University Hospitals for further examinations and treatment.

   Moreover, literacy exams were held at the convoy for 10 citizens in the village in collaboration with the General Authority for Literacy and Adult Education. Fruitful trees were planted in the village. In addition, veterinary services were provided to over 2,280 livestock and poultry. The convoy was organized with participation of a large number of academic staff members, doctors and pharmacists.
