Tanta University Continues its Participation in the Presidential Initiative “A New Beginning for Human Development”
Qutour district hosts Tanta University’s developmental convoy organized in cooperation with the executive authorities in Gharbia Governorate
Tanta University is organizing its comprehensive developmental convoys as part of its community service activities under the presidential initiative, “A New Beginning for Human Development”. The latest convoy took place in the village of Atf Abu Hindi in Qutour district under the supervision of Prof. Mohamed Hussein, Acting President of Tanta University, and in the attendance of Prof. Mahmoud Selim, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development; Prof. Sahar El-Hagar, Vice Dean of Faculty of Pharmacy for Community Service and Environmental Development; Prof. Loay Al-Ahwal, Acting Vice Dean of Faculty of Medicine for Community Service and Environmental Development; and Prof. Amal Abdel-Sattar, Executive Manager of the Main Center for Social Services, as well as several local administration employees and executive leaders in Qutour district.
During the convoy, Prof. Mahmoud Selim and the Director of the Educational Administration in Qutour inspected the projects of talented students as part of a cooperation protocol between the Directorate of Education and the Community Service Sector at Tanta University.
Moreover, 956 patients were examined across 14 specialties, including neurosurgery, pediatrics, orthopedics, dermatology, internal medicine, urology, ENT, general surgery, chest diseases, psychiatry and neurology, ophthalmology, cardiology, reproductive health, and public health initiatives. Medications were dispensed for free. In addition, 44 cases were referred to Tanta University Hospitals for further tests and treatment at no cost. Immediate literacy tests were administered to four residents in cooperation with the General Authority for Literacy and Adult Education.
Furthermore, the convoy included activities of Tanta University’s Innovation and Development Labs, where students were educated about training grants offered through the labs. Veterinary services were provided to over 1,616 livestock and poultry. The convoy offered its services with participation of many academic staff members, doctors, and pharmacists.
As part of the activities, a symposium was held for women in the village about Cancer Awareness Month. It aimed to enhance awareness about the importance of medical checkups and recognizing even minor symptoms of potential diseases. It confirmed that early detection of cancer significantly facilitates treatment and contributes to maintaining the overall health of Egyptian citizens.
