Tanta University and FAO are Collaborating to Empower Students and Achieve Food Security and Sustainable Development
In the context of the constructive cooperation between Tanta University and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), and in line with Egypt’s National Strategy for Higher Education and Scientific Research and Egypt Vision 2030, with a focus on sustainable development, food security, and combating water poverty, Prof. Mahmoud Selim, Tanta University Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development, welcomed a student delegation from the FAO Model, which was established at Faculty of Agriculture.
The visit recognized Prof. Selim’s ongoing support for the model since its establishment and coincided with the third official inauguration of the FAO Model at the university. During the meeting, students congratulated Prof. Selim on being selected as the “Ideal Doctor” at the national level by the General Medical Syndicate, expressing their gratitude for his leading role in empowering youth and enhancing their participation in innovation and entrepreneurship.
During the meeting, Prof. Selim highlighted the significance of fostering a culture of entrepreneurship among university students and supporting their innovative projects, affirming the critical role of innovation in agriculture and modern irrigation to address urgent challenges related to food and water security and climate change. He also stressed the need for coordination and integration between the university, research centers, and FAO to improve the agricultural sector and to achieve strategic sustainable development goals in line with Egypt Vision 2030.
