Tanta University Vice President Commends Ministry of Social Solidarity’s Efforts in Supporting Students in Financial Need

Prof. Mahmoud Selim:

• EGP 10.2 million allocated to support students in financial need in cooperation with the Ministry of Social Solidarity.

• These figures reflect the university’s commitment to providing a social safety system for its students.

   Under the auspices of Prof. Mohamed Hussein, Tanta University President, and in collaboration with the Ministry of Social Solidarity, the university has successfully provided substantial financial aid to students facing financial difficulties. This initiative underscores the University Administration’s dedication to ensuring a stable educational environment that supports the academic journey of prioritized student groups. Prof. Selim noted that the total funds allocated for paying tuition fees amounted to EGP 10,292,998.42, benefiting 4,909 male and female students.

   Prof. Mahmoud Selim declared that this fruitful cooperation was distributed across specific timeframes. During the 2022–2023 academic year, financial support totaling EGP 5,603,458.35 was provided to serve 2,905 students. These efforts continued throughout the 2024–2025 academic year, covering the fees of 2,004 students with a total expenditure of EGP 4,689,539.89. He emphasized that these figures reflect the university’s ongoing commitment to providing a social protection system for its students, serving as a primary outcome of Tanta University’s fulfillment of its social responsibilities toward its members.

   Prof. Selim added that, under the leadership of Prof. Mohamed Hussein, the university continues to strengthen its partnerships with all state institutions to develop the social protection system within the campus. This ensures that no student’s progress is hindered by financial constraints, thereby reinforcing the principles of equal opportunity and social justice, aligning with the strategy of the Egyptian state.

   The Vice President expressed his sincere gratitude and appreciation to the Ministry of Social Solidarity for its continuous support, praising the vital role played by the Social Solidarity Unit at the university as an effective channel for student services. He extended special thanks to Prof. Reham El-Sawah, Coordinator of the Social Solidarity Unit, and her team for their tireless efforts in identifying the cases and facilitating support procedures for eligible recipients with utmost accuracy and transparency.
