During the meeting, Prof. Mahmoud Selim affirmed that Tanta University places paramount importance on following up the implementation of the outcomes and recommendations of the “First Environmental Forum of Delta Region Alliance Universities,” which was hosted by the university last month under the theme “Academia and Industry… Bridging the Gap.” He indicated that the forum produced a comprehensive roadmap focused on directing scientific research in the fields of nanotechnology, artificial intelligence, and biotechnology toward applied solutions addressing energy and sustainability challenges.

Moreover, Prof. Selim explained that the recommendations placed significant emphasis on enhancing circular economy mechanisms and launching “Green University” initiatives to serve as a model for educational institutions. They also included the establishment of a Student Union for the alliance and the formation of a permanent committee under the title “Environmental Ambassadors” to ensure sustained coordination among the region’s universities. In addition, implementation plans were proposed to integrate the strategic objectives of Sinai development into the research and service agendas of participating ministries and universities, thereby contributing to comprehensive and sustainable national development across all state sectors.

The meeting also featured a presentation by Prof. Alaa Halweesh, Executive Manager of the Central Sustainable Training Center, who outlined Tanta University’s initiative to qualify and develop university leaders from both academic and administrative staff.
